Question Best way to sell wheels?

I am currently trying to sell as set of 17" E90/1 Style 158 wheels but i'm not having much luck.

They are in good conditon and have non run flat tyres on which have a few miles left but not loads. Am I better off getting the tyres taken off and then advertising them? Or maybe selling them individually as spares although this sounds like a lot of hassle.

So far I have only had them advertised on here so I guess I should put them on ebay, I was hoping to avoid their extortionate fees!

I was hoping at this time of year there would be plenty of people looking for wheels to use with winter tyres...

The fact that they haven't sold is surprising and can only mean one thing, they are too dear. What are you asking for them? They ought to be very attractive for winter use.

I'd get rid of the tyres if you can - they're really no use nor ornament as your target market has to be winter wheel requirement. Then advertise on eBay with "BMW" "Winter Wheels" in your title and they'll go. I really wouldn't be expecting more than £300 tops though.

By the time your buyer has fitted winter tyres he could have bought a brand-new wheel/tyre set from BMW - steels with covers, admittedly, but who cares for winters?

As above.

You might even consider getting some cheap winter tyres on there - nothing silly like linglongs, but a "package" might sell better than just the alloys.

In and around £300 would be about right for perfect 17" wheels, if one or more needs a refurb then adjust accordingly. Stick them on Ebay as the poster above with a reasonable reserve and they ought to go quickly. I looked for ages last year for decent original 17" in the square setup and paid more than this for mine which were in mint condition.

Bit of a gamble fitting tyres, lets face it most would expect a £200 per cnr tyre, anything else wouldn't cut it

Whats wrong with Linglongs anyway, the reviews sound OK

I'd not buy Tyres to put on. I'm surprised they have not sold. Maybe you have to reduce the price.

Thanks for the advice chaps, have dropped the price a bit. I'm not desperate to sell but it would be nice to get them out of the garage. They are in good nick and I have seen some pretty rough looking wheels on ebay going for not much less.

Prob need to get them on ebay really to reach a bigger audience...

One of your challenges may simply be being in Devon, selling anything that people may wish to see and collect, rather than have sent unseen is always a chellenge here in Cornwall. We are not in the best part of the country to tap into the winter wheel market.

If a buyer gets lots of good clear pics they can easily see what they are buying. Courier is also quite reasonable, just get them well wrapped to avoid any transit damage.
