Hit and Run
SUnday night I was rear ended by an older couple in a silver Lexus ES. I was able to get the first three letters of the plate, because they drove off! What's even better was that I was in a BMW loaner car and not even my car. The police report came out today and of course no one was able to come up with the individual, What can I do? My deductible is $1,000 and I'd like to know if missing something? The damage was some scratches and thats it, nothing crazy like a bumper split in half.

Not really because odds are, you're going to pay out of pocket for anything under a grand anyway because it's not worth having the accident on your record and having your premium increase. You also have lower premiums which saves money. It makes perfect sense. You're wasting money on your premium if you pay extra to have a $100 or $250 deductible.

I have the same deductable on my car... In reality, it makes the insurance so much more affordable, anything less just isn't really worth it.
I would contact your insurance. When I was hit in a parking lot, luckily the guy who did it stayed around and waited for me to come by. We called the police, filed the report. When I contacted my insurance, initially they stated I would have to pay the deductible. After they received the police report, they would make the determination if I would be refunded the deductible I paid. I made a bit of an argument, told them that I gave them all of the info on the guy who hit me, that he was cooperating, etc. Gave them all of his info and insurance company's info. They finally broke down and said they would cover all the repairs and just go after the guy. I guess it's different for you because you can't find the person who hit you, but maybe if you make enough of an argument you can get hooked up.
