Scoliosis Spinal Surgery
Hey everyone. I was wondering if anyone here has scoliosis or has gotten the surgery for it. I'm in the process of doing research and finding out more about the surgery. I've talked to doctors and their patients. I planning to get the surgery done in May of 2012.
For those who have gotten the surgery, when did you get it done. How do you feel to this day, do you have anymore pain, and what are you limited to do. I would appreciate any type of advice, tips, or information. Thanks in advance. |

Indeed it is a serious surgery and unfortunately it seems like its my only option. I was diagnosed with scoliosis at 16 and wore a brace until 18. I'm 19 now and the pain is just unbearable. I've taken physical therapy and tried chiropractors. It seems this is my only choice now sadly.

My sister had it done. She's got the rods and everything in her back. To this day she has no pain, and is actually in better shape and can move around a bit better because of it.
Although she was down for a while because the healing process is long, it was well worth it. I'm sure you're nervous, she was really nervous, but in the end it is the best thing for you and I am sure you will be very happy with the results once you've healed! Best of luck!

I am pretty nervous to get it done, but if it's going to help me I guess I have to. But that's good that your sister is doing well. Thanks for your response I really appreciate it.

There are many medical based forums out there, I spent some time on these before I had my cervical spine surgery, they gave me some insight on what to expect and what to look out for.But with most forums there are some strange people on some of these boards with horrible advice
I am assuming you are waiting for school to end to have this surgery. |
