Ah crap, I had an accident

Not serious, but annoying...

Traffic in the outside lane of the M1 at Jnc 16 South stopped on a coin, luckily I managed to stop in time, the guy behind me didn't

At least I got to chat with the fellow 3 series driver that rammed in to me

He came off worse, bumper grills and bonnet I reckon

Ouch! Looks very similar to the last bump I had in my E91. No damage to anything behind the bumper but new bumper, new splitter, paint, labour etc. It would have been about £1200 iirc if the guy paid for it instead of going through insurance. Dealer price of course.

I had 5 accidents in my last car, all non fault and all repaired by the same BMW dealer.

3 rear endings, 2 on the same location on the M1, 1 at a roundabout,.

1 front end knock where the driver didn't understand who has priory.

1 fella on the motorway who was drunk and knocked my drivers wing.

Who said 3 series brakes were crap (mind if it was a 3 who crashed into you, were you talking about tyre choice)?

It is amazing just how much dealers charge for repairs like this. I had a cyclist crash into the back end of my car denting the bootlid and trashing the diffuser and scratching the rear bumper. For a whole backend respray, new diffuser, bonnet respray (and dent removal from a huge rock that hit it), only cost me £350 at an independent spray shop about eighteen months ago. Worth doing if saves claiming off own insurance. I had quotes of over £1500 from BMW just for the rear end (my local BMW dealer subcontract to an independent 'approved' bodyshop). License to print money. The other scam is this third party insurer being charged for a like for like replacement car (then for some reason it takes weeks for seemingly minor accident damage to be repaired)?

Is your middle name lucky?

I'd be pretty fed up with that little lot, I don't mind so much if the other driver at fault doesn't start arguing the toss. One lad who hit me head on (after I'd come to a complete standstill) didn't understand the term accept liability! Mind, he'd only passed his test two days earlier. Just what he was doing overtaking a lorry on a blind bend is another thing.... (nice guy though and extremely apologetic so I didn't contact the police.... he'd have been done for driving withtout due care and attention.... plus he had his Dad to answer to for writing off his car).

All 5 drivers accepted responsibility and went through insurance without any hiccups.

Was actually 5 perfect accidents I guess.

2 were at 5 mph.
2 were at 35mph
1 was at 75 mph.

Worth pointing out this was over 4 years and 100k miles.

Thats nothing, on my last accident I was sat at the red lights and the bird came and rear ended me, fair enough, had insurance all went ok.

30 mins later, bang, steam coming from under the bonnet, expansion tank split. Fair enough, that replaced.

2 days later coolant light, pipe leaking.

Week later, water pump leaking.

End result....fml.

May I also point out that 4 days earlier BMW sytner just finished painting the tailgate because it started flaking from a previous accident.

Man was the bodyshop manager gobsmacked.

Not really, the worst one was being sat at the traffic lights and being hit.

I was sat to a side and talking to my brother so it jolted my back side ways.

I already have back issues as it is and jesus did that make it worse.

The worst is having to go back to the dealer 5-6 times to sort out every single little niggle.

I'm such a little bitch when it comes to the most utter slight imperfections.

Some stuff was ridiculous, trim hanging off, lighting hanging off, tailgate at a massive angle, exhaust shield not screwed in.

Other was utter minor imperfections, but now he knows how much of an utter bitch I am he doesn't let me have the car back until he has gone over it very finely.

Brings a whole new meaning to 'BMW Approved Bodyshop' doesn't it?

I bent a track rod end in the VW - caught the front wheel in a metal fence at 3mph trying to park in a tight spot.
Cost was £3k due to bodyshop/lease Co. scammers.
New wing, inner and outer, new wheel, strut, tie bar and steering rack complete. Took three weeks.
Twats.

Somebody bumped my rear in my 09 Citroen C5 a couple of years ago.

That was £1400 so I did expect BMW to be more.

Is it just the bumper, or is there more damage underneath?

REAR BUMPER COVER
BUMPER COVER
REAR CENTRE DIFFUSER
REAR BUMPER SUPPORT
R.BRAKE LAMP BULB
TOWING EYE COVER
TAILGATE SENSOR
T.GATE LOCK STRIKER

I was told that there is a "shock absorber" behind the bumper which has a one use life, this will be replaced, and the tailgate doesn't close properly either, and will need painting, this plus all the usual trim bits like badges and clips etc. The total paint & materials cost is nearly £400! (without labour!)
