How many miles on your diesel?

I figured since you guys on the other side of the pond have been driving diesels longer than us in the states I am interested in hearing how many miles you've put on your BMW diesel and what kind of unscheduled maintenance you've done. e.g. DPF failure, turbos etc. Please state the model.

Thought this survey would assist us in figuring out how reliable these cars long term and what our potential financial exposure is as it relates to repairs the like.

Thanks in advance!

Vac pipes I did as precaution, I replaced the pressure converters instead of cleaning. Swirl flaps I blanked.

After 100k shit gets interesting.

You will be looking at turbos aswell as Auto transmission issues.

These engines are complicated and there is no way around that.

We might aswell throw the 530d m57 in aswell.

x6 Swirl flaps
x1 egr valve
x1 turbo breather
x2 injectors
x6 glowplugs
x1 waterpump
x1 stat
x2 pipes

This was over 80,000.

I am very clued up on these diesels, they will go wrong, it's not a case off if, its a case of when.

Fair enough, but I wouldn't own a high miler myself. What's the point.

Still prefer the awesome power compared to a limp wristed gutless N/A motor.

My 335d was the most reliable car ive owned. Bulletproof. When I had a 318i I broke the diff haha.

Completely agree, would much rather have power and torque of the 335d over some crappy N/A.

Now no offence but please do not de rail this thread over your obsession with jacking off to twin turbo inline 6 diesels, there are quite literally 800 threads you can do that to.

Lets keep this thread for pure for the Ops sake.

I think we should keep out suspension related stuff tbh, only the engine is related IMO.

As bearings, diffs etc can go on a petrol car aswell.
