Bought my 335i used, whats under trunk mat?

When I bought my used 335i I was a bit on the excited side and didnt really take much notice to whats in the trunk. But I did notice The floor mats were throw in the trunk. When I got home and took the mats out I noticed there was no floor liner. SO the company bought me a liner that lifts up. But there are a few compartments under the floor that lifts up, yet they are all empty. What is actually supposed to be in the available space under the liner? Obviously something is missing from the car.

Whatever you'd care to carry in that spot -- nothing came in that spot from the factory except German air.

I use it for a jack, lug wrench, tire plugs, fix-o-flat, etc... Non RFT's. Space save spare fits in the trunk on longer trips, as well as a small compressor.

As others said, nothing is supposed to be there (a uria tank if you're driving a diesel ). Make sure you got the tiny toolkit over the rear passanger wheel well.

The dealer took away most of my tool kit when I bought the car including my wheel lock key, the bastards. They made me buy a new one.

I keep a compressor, tire sealant and a first aid kit that I snagged from a wrecked Audi in mine.

this compartment was specially designed for my ready-mixed protein shakes from Costco (at least in the cold months) so I don't have to remember to put one in my car every day.

Above the tool kit, you should also have your owners manual. Right next to the owners manuals is a spot for an OEM First Aid Kit.

On the drivers side of the trunk, there should be one of two things. Either a plastic dummy cover or, if equipped, a cd changer.

I always wondered about the spot where a spare tire would normally be. It looks like something should go there but apparently not.

The molded spaces under the trunk mat are designed for the OEM BMW jack and tire tools, which of course don't come with the car. However, if you buy a donut spare kit that comes with the OEM tools, they are a perfect fit under there, even the jack. There is still some space left over for gloves, reflectors/flares, compressor, etc.

thank you everyone. I wasnt sure if that was a stupid question or not. But when I lifted the trunk liner and saw a spot where it looked like something used to be, I was concerned. But I guess its just made for extra storage. thank you everyone for your help.

There is no way a spare tire is going in the spot under my trunk liner

the TOOLS, dude...not the tire itself!

Though, now that I think about it, if you just block up the trunk liner about 4 inches, a compact spare will fit under it just fine....

OK: tools.

I popped my kit open today to get out the tow hook as I was stuck in snow.

There was a tow hook, a screwdriver, and two empty slots. What two items are missing? I recall reading about an allen wrench for the sunroof or something so that should be one of them.

You got what you were supposed to get. The pliers (other item), open end wrenches, and sunroof crank got deleted starting with '08 model year. However, I successfully brow-beat the dealer when we bought ours to come up with the crank, telling him I'd be happy to sue his butt off if the roof motor ever failed and the interior got trashed in a storm. After that comment, he wandered away for a while and came back with the crank. Next time you go in for service, you might try making the same argument. Or you could just buy one online. Threats probably work best when the guy is still trying to close the deal!
