E92 OEM paint thickness

Does anyone know what is/ should be the OEM paint thickness for an E92 metallic black when leaves the factory? Thank you.

I believe somewhat between 120 and 150 microns, depending on panel. Anything above 200 is surely repainted, if that's what you're interested of.

Thanks for your reply. I had the hood repainted after a construction company doing work close to our office spilled epoxy on it. After I got the car back from the stealership I got a paint gauge and inspected the car because it was all swirls ...shows 189 microns (on the newly painted area) and between 117 and 172 on the rest...the car was purchased new in 2009 never polished...I tried to find more but nobody seems to know exactly what these values are or should be.

The BMW waterborne paints they use these days aren't very durable - many of my fellow CCA members have commented on this. Stone chips occur far too easily and quickly. A sign of the times...the waterborne paints are supposed to be more eco-friendly. Not sure how this affects paint thickness, though.

i think stone chips will happen more easily and quickly after a paint job no matter where it is done

Tech Note BMW: After all coats are applied, the total paint thickness is 120 microns or about the thickness of 5 human hairs.
