Window Tint
Hi, first of all sorry for a long post.
I got my 328i hardtop convertible about a month back and I didnt want to drive it withoug tints. I got the tints done from one of the famous shops in South Jersey. The tint guy screwed it. first he told me that he will hold the car for 3-4 hours to dry the tint since its a coupe with window going up n donw, but he gave me the car in 2 hours and told me its good. the tint starting coming off after 2-3 days. At some point I asked the guy if he is goin to do single piece tint on the rear screen, he laughed at me, although mine was a stupid question but hey he shd be a professional in his reply. anyway, now im determined im gonna do my own tint. i went to that shop again n blasted the owner and he was more than willing to do it again, but i told him, im not giving me car to that ahole guy who laughed at me and didnt to a good job. i got the tints from him and now planning to do it on my own, by removing the panels for a perfect job (or keeping the windows up by blocking open/close sensor/switch(still to find)...waiting for little dry sunny day...im not gonna wait till summer. however, i did the front windshield strip today, it came out perfect with no air bubbles. I would really appreciate if someone can give me any suggestions from one's own experience... I'm pretty sure i will do the best job :-) since i would be doing it from my heart... thanks, GD |

In order to keep the window from rolling back down every time the door is open when ur trying to tint it, open the door and get a screw driver or something and flip the latch up so the door thinks it's closed... Then the window will stay up.
That's what I did when I had to tint a coupe! Goodluck!

Finally, on a sunny day and temp around 45-50, I did the tint on front door(35%) and front windshield top(2.5%) successfully.
I rate the driver side door 9 out of 10, since this was a practice for me. I did not open the driver side door for 5 days...yeah hoped in/out from the passenger door and gave a plenty of laughs to my wife... I might do it again in summer when temp is above 70. 6.5 feet long tint costs around $12-13 which can go on 2 windows. check the attached pic. Thanks for all the inputs. It was kind of my dream since i was a kid to do my own tints...lol |
