Help with Roof Rack E91

Which one of these roof racks from Thule will fit on my 2011 328 Touring Wagons...I'm not sure about fitment and have concerns about length, weight and shark fin...

* Atlantis 2100
* Atlantis 1800
* Atlantis 1600

Your help is appreciated.

I've used a Thule Atlantis 1600xt on my previous E90 sedan, and it works great. LOTS of room in there and it fit on the OEM racks just fine. Sharkfin is well below the base of the rack with the pod mounted. There was a slight bit of wind noise above ~70mph, but not very intrusive even on a 1500 mile road trip. I'm sure it would work just as well if not better on the E91...which I'll find out myself pretty soon!

Very nice! 1600 looks like a good size. 1800 is a tad bigger but I think would be okay for a 3 series sportwagon....

Now the question...where to get the best deal on a Thule!??

Quick question. Do you guys leave these things on all the time? Just wondering because of obvious decrease in aerodynamics and higher center of gravity.

Unless someone had a bad experience leaving it on all the time, I think its personal preference

Personally, since the box is light and is only 3-7 min to install, I would only keep it on when I needed it.

I leave my cross bars mounted for most of the winter (i.e. ski season) but will take the cargo pod off if I know I won't be using it for a couple of weeks. After winter I take the cross bars off as well.

I think aesthetically, the 1800 would be fine on the wagon as well, as the extended rear roofline would more then "absorb" the extra length compared to the sedan.

As for Thule deals, ORS and REI is who I've ended up using previously.

During the summer, they stay on because I don't want to constantly remove them and install them. Even though it's 5-7 minutes, it's a two person job and there is a good chance that I mess up eventually and break something.

The decrease in aerodynamics led to a big reduction in fuel economy. SUCKS when gas is as expensive as it is. During the summer, just the racks with faring I got 23.7mpg. Winter, I am at 25.5. That's a big difference over the course of a 6mo period.
