330XI delayed power after shifting with 6MT
Hi all,
One of my childhood to now friends owns a nearly identical '06 330XI to mine. He has I Drive and I don't that's about the only difference. Last night he called me up and told me that he had no power after shifting for a few moments and then suddenly it would come back. I asked him to swing by but he was on his way to a gathering so he didn't come by. I'll get a chance to drive it today but I figured I'd vaguely describe the problem and see if it's happened before. Searching isn't turning up anything. |

Delayed power could be caused by the clutch slipping for a while after the it's been fully re-engaged, in which case it's probably time for new clutch plates. Easiest way to tell is if RPMs climb up a bit after re-engaging the clutch without much speed increase, then dip back down (the car might also slow a bit when this happens), and then the power actually comes on as they start to climb again.

put the car into third gear from a stop and if it stalls your clutch is okay. if it engages, your clutch is slipping. then again, i drive an automatic, so my advice is probably useless.

hmm i have the same issue, only it doesnt seem to dip in the first three gears, the max lag/power drop seems to be 5th-6th. Or maybe i suck at shifting
