Things you wish you had specified?

I think the standard specification on the E92 M Sport is rather generous but wish I had specified the following options:

313 alloy wheels - these look amazing in real life and freshen up the design
Privacy glass - very subtle and looks great
Bluetooth!

Rather more annoyingly the M Sport Plus trim level was introduced just after my car had been delivered.

I would consider fitting these parts aftermarket but as the vehicle is on Contract Hire I'm not entirely sure if I can actually modify it in any way.

Is there anything you wish you had or had not specified on your cars?

It's bloody stupid that Bluetooth isn't standard when everyone has a mobile phone and it's illegal to use in a car without BT or similar.

I bought these aftermarket, I just had to have them. They make the car look much sportier. Cost a few bob, but well worth it.

I've always thought about the privacy glass, I wonder how much it would cost to replace 3 pieces of glass?

The only thing that bothers me about my 3-series is that it is not a 5-series

I would imagine the glass would cost a fortune. You can always have the tinted film applied but whenever I've seen that it isn't perfect - you get the old glass showing near the dot matrix.

Problem for me is my vehicle is on Contract Hire so isn't even my car.

Problem for me is my vehicle is on Contract Hire so isn't even my car. Also I think the 313s were a £700 option but a set would cost £1500 second hand even.

Handsfree phones are dangerous. Your girlfriend may call you up while you are in the car with your wife.

+1 About the only box the previous owner of our's didn't tick! £42k worth of car list price and no heated seats. Mind we only paid £25k at 18 months old and 13k miles.

Only I-drive. Apart from that mines fully loaded. Love the privacy glass, I get a lot of comments on how subtle they are

No, having learned the hard way, 6 BM's in, always tick every box you would like because long after the cost is forgotten the irritation of not having ticked the right box remains.

Spoiling the ship for a hapeth of tar etc.

Zero depreciation

Can't recommend these guys enough they do a lot of the after market tints for BMW, Audi and Merc for dealers. They did my mates M5 for the dealer he got as AUC. Not a bad price and offer a range of tints - http://www.pentagonglasstech.com/

Bought them 1 year ago, for about £1550 from alloywheelsdirect.net.
Just checked the price and the same are now £1962.

Performance ones are about £200 cheaper than the 313M for no difference at all except the stickers. I actually prefer the performance stickers, makes them look a bit more special IMO.

I bought mine second hand but I do wish I had thought harder before saying yes to a car with Business iDrive, it is utterly useless, the nav is shockingly bad. That plus USB interface (in fact I want this so bad that I am planning on having it retro fitted) other than that I am pretty happy with my car, even the puny engine! (although having said that I think I would opt for the 318D or maybe 320D next time around)
