Service...haggle with your dealer - 50% reductions are available

Called and got a quote from my local dealler for Oil, vehicle check, brake fluid, microfilter & mot (i.e. the works!).

think it was around £500 all in. Then asked for a discount...came down to £415.

Then Used http://www.maindealerdiscount.com/ (Which Paul (pjs) posted the other week).

Cheapest came out at £260 + mot!! Also had a call from another local BM dealer who offered me a half price MOT.

Called back my dealer and left a voice mail for the lady I spoke to.. said I can get half price MOT and all service for under 260. She called back with, and i just got her to email to confirm: all in for £243.

just goes to show...its worth haggling

Agree totally

If you do not ask you will not know, i sometimes play dealers off each other and you'd be surprised how much you can save sometimes

Great deal.

I'm just waiting on someone saying it would be cheaper with your own oil.

Thanks for that link!

Paid over £200 for my service at Sytner last year, and on that site, it comes to just over £130!

How on earth was oil, microfilter, brake fluid & an MoT ever £500?

The vehicle check usually has almost no value IMO, or at least has been done for me for "free" before I think in the hope of getting more work.

£243 is ample for the work, but good skills on the bartering.

Just punched my details in as I've only 2000 miles before 3rd service.

Bowler say should be £233 but reduced to £151.

Syter £454 reduced to £295.

I thought at third oil service it was microfilter, fuel filter and plugs added.

£151 is too cheap and I'd be happy sub £300.

I imagine that would have been the straw that broke the camels back

Cheers mate

Indy's were quoting 250ish (inc MOT) - so this is about where it is I reckon....shows what the margins are like!

Well, luckiy i got this quote in writing over email.!

Guess what, sat down and out came an invoice for £534

I had some new wipers at £30, plus oil leak investigation at £41 (which will be refunded by the BMW warranty when the leak is confirmed after 500 miles..not happy, but hey).

So obviously the service/mot work was not done at £240ish. The service guy couldn't get over the discount I was given, so showed the email, then showed him the discount website (told them they should start using it).

So not sure if it was a mistake or not, but they reworked the invoice ok

Why don't people buy the 5 years servicing pack with their cars, surely it works out much cheaper in the long run. Mine cost £350, so money is recouped probably after 2 services.

Because some of us don't buy new and others don't keep their cars long enough to benefit from it.

I didn't buy mine new but it came with the service pack. It was a big bonus when I bought mine and made the car more desirable/sellable knowing no service bills for 5 years.

Thats all very well but I doubt any car enthusiast is going to leave oil in an engine for 10k miles let alone 20k!

I just phone my dealer with the quote given on the main dealer discount website
and they said they would question what oil they would be using. Could this be true or another bull s**t from the dealer.

Thats what i thought plus i doubt a big group like Styner would use cheap oil anyways. Just had a call back from the stealers and they could get no where near the price quoted so i will give main dealer discount a go.

Just mentioned the site to a guy at work who'd recently purchased a used bmw 320d. He managed to get a quote from the site for a third oil service and it came back a £97. He booked it through the site and paid them the deposit of £40.

He booked the service at Sytner in Coventry via maindealerdiscount.com but quickly received a call from the site to say there was a problem with the price given. We all thought it was a bit cheap.... The price should have been £249 which was still over £100 cheaper than a normal price.

The service is booked for tomorrow so we'll see how he gets on. Apparently any extras are also at the 10% parts & 25% labour discount.

Update: I have booked a oil service on Wednesday with Sytner Coventry through main dealer discount for £112. They have taken their £20 deposit now all I have to pay is the £92 remaining balance to Sytner. I got a booking confirmation email from Sytner Coventry service manager asking if I would like any other work done while it was in. I asked him about the recall on the injectors and that is getting looked at now as well. At the moment it is all going good so will keep u all posted.

Just got back from my service from styner Coventry everything went smoothly. Upon arrival I was greeted at the car park by a gentleman name terry who knew my name and what I was in for. Then I was escorted to the service reception. Very impressed with this. Service advisor went through all the work that was having done and went through the prices before work started. All in all this is the best and cheapest service I have had. I would highly recommend booking a service through main dealer discount and styner Coventry.
There is one little thing, on the invoice it says they have used mobil oil instead of BMW recommended castrol. Does this matter?
