Early! 2012 Caterham F1 Pictures
The 2012 Caterham F1 entry (CT01) is due to be launched via 'F1 Racing' magazine this week. Some subscribers got their copy early.
My initial impression is, that nose needs to go.

That nose probably has something to do with the change in regulations. But yes, it's really ugly. Formula 1 appears to be getting LESS aerodynamic in the past 5 years, which is ridiculous.

Ferrari's F12/2012 is supposedly going to have a kinked nose also, aero feature similar to McLaren. The concave center looks like it might be there for visibility.

Never, but that can't always stop what the eye sees. Especially when they go after mass market appeal.

I thought 2012 mandates to have a low height nose like Brawn BGP001.

Is that sharp taper the easiest way to maximize aero and meet the requirements, or do you think we'll see something better looking from the top teams?

McLaren typically has run a lower nose than the other top teams in the last 2 years. Red Bull, Ferrari, and Mercedes all had their nose cones as high as possible.

From those angles it doesn't look bad. Rotate the car 45 degrees however and then...

Montezemolo said this year's Ferrari "will be an ugly car" so I wouldn't hold my breath.
