water in trunk

odd problem with the e93. driving around yesterday and i heard water sloshing around when i would come to a stop. i open the trunk, and there is water in the battery compartment and the carpeting on the right side where the bracket is for where the top rests when it's retracted. there was no water on any of the rubber seals and no water under the rear deck lid or any other indication that water was dripping down. we did have heavy rains for a few days and i did drive through some pooled water at 40-50 mph. any ideas?

I bet your seal around the whale tail (SAT antenna) is leaking. You may check that...saw a post around here some time ago where someone ordered a replacement seal for that for this very reason - water in the trunk. Good luck!

Similar thing happened to my Z4, and as a result the insurance company totaled the vehicle as the electronics were fried and risk of mold.

My was a result of water coming down through the softtop as the pathways for the water to clear were clogged and overfilled.

i would place some towles along inside of trunk then close it and run a water hose around it for a minute. when you open the trunk look for wet spots on the towel to determine where its leaking. hope dont know if it will work but hope it helps..

I hears swooshing just now while driving and it sounded like the passenger side rear window compartment. Rolled windows down and back up, window coated with water. Other windows remain dry.

Wow I hope you get this fixed, water is a big enemy, corrodes things from the inside out and it goes everywhere....
