got a speeding ticket "need info"
from PA, traveling back from Canada, pulled over by New York state police.
ticket stated doing 80mph in 65zone. no price on ticket just a court date. officer also stated to me that there will not be a point nor my insurance be effect by this ticket. i checked online and see that in NY 11-20 over limit is 4 points. but i believe PA is one of the state who does post out of state speeding ticket. can anyone confirmed this so i can just pay and get on with my life thx 1. should i plead guilty and wait for the fine to be mailed to me and pay? 2. or plea not guilty and delay as long as i can and still end up paying at the end? edited: sorry i meant to say PA does not post out of state speeding ticket right? If PA posts to a Canadian Motor Vehicle Report then it will likely show on your next insurance renewal after the conviction if you choose to plead guilty. You could try to fight it which would mean either going to PA or hiring someone...which wouldn't guarantee the charge is dropped, but would cost money regardless. If it isn't dropped then it will just delay the conviction date which means it will take longer to come off the books.
Even then if your AutoPlus and MVR are generally clean, this one ticket may not have any impact on your driver rating based on your insurer's underwriting rules....unless you get another ticket or have another one already in which case it might drop your driver rating. Hope that helps edit--- sorry misread, thought you were returning to Canada from PA. same rules should apply either way

Cant you plead or what "no judification" and just pay court costs but not have the point on ur license? They might even make you take a 4 hour course..which i would do online if you have the option

It's NOT a PA fine if you got pulled over by a NY State Trooper. No way they have jurisdiction in PA. So if it was a NY State Trooper, you were in NY State.

It's in new York not in pa if pa I would just go court but the fact it's in some town in NewYork and it's about 170 miles away, going to court is out of Thr question. I want to just pay the fine if there's no point recorded like the state trooper claimed.

Just pay it. PA will be aware of the violation but it will not affect your insurance. The only thing PA cares about is a DWI/DUI. People, please understand that DMV points are for licensing and suspension purposes, not insurance. In PA, you cannot even have your insurance surcharged on one violation, it takes two. In this case, it doesn't even count.
Do not mistake lack of surcharge with losing a good driver discount. So, yes, now you can get on with your life. (4) An insurer may not assess a premium surcharge solely because of one conviction of an offense enumerated in 75 Pa.C.S. § 1535. If an insurer assesses a surcharge because of payment for an at-fault accident, the insurer may not increase the surcharge solely because of one 75 Pa.C.S. § 1535 conviction connected with that same accident. |
