vent: i just opened my hood while my windshield wipers were up

i realized what i was doing when there was a rubbing sound. closed my hood and now i have two scratches on the inside lip of the hood. fml.

At least some body didnt throw a moldy log at your hood leaving it with two small dents =(



are the scratches big?

Thanks for the consolation posts.

They're probably about an inch and a half, along the inside lip of the hood.

Stupid, it was dark, blah. Whatever. It's a five year old car and I'll probably sell it in a couple years when I move to Manhattan.

doesn't sound too bad, just get some touch up paint and ask for a mulligan.

If I can throw lil plug out there, I ordered base coat and clear coat paint pens from Automotivetouchup.com (I think it is...google it) and they are very very good. I used BMW brand touch up solution on my E46 and its royal pain in the D*ck so I went with these pens and they are amazing.

I feel your pain though couple years ago when I got my E46 I was detailing it and I had microfiber towel laying on top right edge of trunk well...stupid me decided to close the trunk...Ya it didnt close but the top edge near rear window got slightly dent ohhh I was mad. I was able to get the bend out and its fine but still.

I actually have those two BMW pens but haven't bothered to use them yet, as I don't really know how to do a good job on them. I imagine it's not as simple as a quick dash and dry. They're not good? These ones came from the previous owner and weren't previously used.
