Rate my deal... 2011 335d BMW Executive Demo
So as you can tell by my post count, this is my first post on this forum AND my first BMW! I've been lusting after BMWs since graduating from college, but could never fiscally justify it. (Afford it... yes... justify... no).
My wife & I just moved back from Finland after an 18-month job assignment and we needed to buy two cars and a house. Surprisingly, some good fiscal planning and saving made this purchase possible! Anyway, enough of the background story... here's what I got. I think we had the advantage of it being at the end of the month and they wanted it off the lot. Purchased at United BMW of Roswell just north of Atlanta, GA. This one was a BMW Executive Demo car. *Side Note* I was told there are three levels of loaner or demo cars. (Could be a line, but it sounded legit) Loaners for service visits. Demos for local managers. And Executive demos for regional BMW executives. I bought the last type. The car was put into service on my birthday, 10/26/2011, and had 3393 miles when I purchased it. It still has 3.5 years left on the 4 year service. Here are the detailed specs: 2011 BMW 335d in Alpine White w/Saddle Brown leather (I LOVE this color combo!) & Aluminum Interior Trim BMW Executive Demo with 3393 miles at purchase ZPP Premium Package ZSP Sport Package 7KB HDD Navigation ZCV Convenience Package LCD3 Saddle Brown Dakota Leather Seat Trim ZCW Cold Weather Package 688 Harmon Kardon Surround Sound 7H8 BMW Assist 6FL Ipod & USB Adapter 655 Satellite Radio Total MSRP was: $56,270 Dealer Price: $46,788 Total Price paid: $44,000 Post-Negotiation Add-Ons: LoJack $545 IBex Leather Protection: $250 3-M Ceramic Window tint (35%): $300 Total Sales Price (before tax & doc): $45,095 I got a 1.99% APR for 72 months from Navy Federal Credit Union and put $12k down. The 72 monther was a no-brainer, as it lets me pay it off sooner with the lower monthly payments! So... big question is... did I get a good deal!? I'll be honest, I was a sucker for the color combination. I'll take some of my own, but I was lazy and figure the dealers were good enough. |

It's a mediocre deal if you ask me...
This is MSRP / Invoice for your options. Now factor in a $3500 Diesel Eco credit and a $1000 BMW drive incentive credit... you're not that far from getting a brand new car ordered to your exact tasting (Even though yours is pretty nicely equipped). With it being the last year model, you would've easily been able to get it very close to invoice (I got my X5 or $350 over invoice at Nalley BMW). Had you been able to do Eurodelivery, you would've faired out even better. But after all that mentioned, I don't believe you can order 335d's any more... so you came pretty close to as new as possible. |

My 2010 335d, fully loaded like yours for 56 grand. It had 1100 miles on it, Custom ordered car that the orderer didn't pick up, sat for 6 months, no one bought it. I managed to pick it up for I believe 46k and it didn't have a pervious in service date so the date i bought it was inservice. I also got a 4500 eco credit at the time.
and 1.9% for 72 months thru BMW financing. I thought I got a good deal so I guess you did too! |

I personally think you could have done a lot better. A week ago I purchased a very similar spec'd 2011 335d (exact same features, but color was silver/black) with 6k miles on it that was put in service on 9/2011 for $38k. You basically paid over $6k more for an extra month of warranty and 2,000 less miles. It sounds like it's too late now, but at least you'll enjoy the car. It's awesome!

I would like to say that your new car is looking very beautiful. Good deal or not is dependent on the purchaser. Are you satisfied with the deal? If so, then yes, you got yourself a good deal. Seems like you can afford the car without any problem so there shouldn't be any buyer's remorse. Enjoy your super nice car =)

I got my 2011 335i, premium package only, in early june of 2011 for $42,000.
After extensive research, it seems that, at the time and considering where I live, I got a good deal. It wasn't anything tremendous, but it was decent.
