Are the rear "side?" Panels the same in e92/93?
Hello, just picked up an e93, one of the panels has a mark on it. Im exploring a few options. Looking at junkyards or places where I may be able to pick up a panel. Do you guys have any ideas who I could contact?
So is the coupe/vert have the same (rear panel) Not sure the exact name, same place a door panel would be except in back..lol Other option was seeing if I could take it anywhere to be fixed? Im very anal and the texture would have to match 110% for me to be satisfied thoughts? |

You could be right. It seems odd that you'd have to drill in a plug, but I've seen weirder things. The coupe doesn't have a hole for it, and i just ran my hand along that panel to see if there was a notch under the "skin", but there weren't any.

that is really odd, i thought it would be more of a visible plug without the hole, because there are bolts inside the holes that i thought would be used in part to bolt the panel down do u have an 2011? ... I have a 2007, maybe the older ones have the plug in a coupe? hope someone else can chime in

that panel shouldn't take more than 30 minutes for a novice with basic knowledge of hand tools to remove and reinstall.

ill probably just suck it up and buy it new for the 114 so i dont have to look at it anymore, anyone know of any DIY for the panels? I dont like to just start yanking on stuff . I was kind of worried separating the top portion of it may be tougher then removing the entire panel it self

remove the rear seat bottom, remove 2 screws. Pull from bottom gently, but with firm pressure until you hear a POP. Then move on the the rest of the clips the same way. Pull the bottom out, then lift up to get it off the lip of the window frame.

plastic welds hold the pieces together. they're easy to break, but you need something hot (like a soldering iron) to put them back on

ah not too crazy about that :-/ I think the damn whole panel is like $800 tho vs $114 for the top so I guess ill have to learn something on. So how would I break the plastic and still be able to use it with a soldering iron? Wouldnt I need more plastic,or hot glue or something?

if you are, in any way, mechanically able, you'll be able to figure it out.
