Is the 2006 325i a good model to buy?
Hey guys just joined this forum looking for some feedback about the 2006 325i.
I've been hearing from people that you should never get the first batch of cars from a new generation and i just wanted to know what you guys that own a 325i think about it? any problems or lack of performance compared to the 08 323i and 328is? thanks |

My budget is around 20k and i dont think we have dissel where i live. I think the diesel only came in 09 335d? and thats out of my price range haha. Im considering the 2006 325i or 330i because there a bit cheaper than the 08+ and im avoiding the 323i06-07 cause i heard there not so great...

If you know what to look for, they are good. The later the build the better, but with a full service history, a well cared for 325i is a great car. The big things are all over the forum. At the mileage you'll be looking at, checking out the water pump, thermostat, power steering pump and transmission status are important. If you can get a BMW mechanic who knows the cars to look at it before you buy, then you'd be good.
A patient search with an appropriate check of the car will be the best approach. They're great cars.

Thanks yeah i've been looking for one for a while now thinking of sticking with CPO but its more expensive and most dealers dont carry the 330i and 325i so i'd have to step up my budget to about 25-30 grand for the CPO =/

Canada has quite a few diesel models besides the 335d. Take a look at those, and I don't know about taxes but you might be able to get a 328 for 20k, I think.

2006 e90 325i is a great car. If you can find a clean well taken care of one go for it. The most important is to have the service history. I would never buy a used car without proper service records. Take it to a BMW service center to have it inspected. They will be able to take care of you.

Thanks for all the input! really helpful, Also does the options on the car make much of a difference? like premium package and sport package is anything a "must" to truly get the bang for your buck?

06 325i Is also a Inline 6 right? Well the M52 engines are proven over years and years. Very good engine, Why I bought my 06 330i for that reason alone. I love my M52 in my E46 so I wasnt really into the new engines, I dont trust them much.
Check the basics...leaks...Coolant color (make sure its blue)...Pre-purchase inspection at dealer. Then when you buy it get coolant replaced, New plugs, Oil change, Get brakes bleed (maybe), Fuel filter, Fuel treatment like STP, Air filter. Just the basics you know. When I buy a car I do all the basics right after I buy it and it sure helps to know that your maintance schedule is all new and you know when stuff needs to be done cause you did it. |

if you can stretch to 330i, it's better. I have 325i and sometime wish for more low end torque- My solution is most likely a chip tune down the road or new car. In town driving engine is very thirsty when cold, and it takes in winter 8km of driving to warm it up as I drive around 2-4km per day (work close by) then it means my consumption is awful, like 18l per 100km. but on highway it's 7l per 100km, which is very nice.
smooth 6 cyl engine, quite car, feels great otherwise. If spec is good, then go for it. these cars are very nice when well specced! it's better than 320d in every way but fuel economy makes it a bit more equal, and 320d in town driving is better I think (more punch from low end). 325i is good at higher speeds.

Thats what I drive an I absolutely love it! My only wish was that I had a 335i for the turbos but I dont have power on that since my dad was the one who gave me the car in the first place

I'd probably go for a 330i over a 325i just for the extra power.
