At first thought the chances of my winning a second time are very small. Statistics say that each raffle is an independent event so my previous win does not decrease my chances of winning again.

So, I still buy tickets every year. I bought tickets for this year's raffle last weekend.

It is really amazing to be present at a raffle drawing and see the reaction of a winner when their name is drawn. Most people just take the equavalent value in cash. I am one of a very few people who actually took the car.

I've been buying tickets in this lottery for a couple of decades - at least.

1:5000 odds, eh?

What's to prevent all of my tickets being in one bin of 5000? Or two being
in one bin and the others scattered across other bins?

BTW, how are the 1:5000 odds calculated? Simply number of prizes awarded
based on number of tickets sold?

If 300,000 tickets are sold and all dumped into one bin or cage, aren't the odds 1:300,000? and the same for each draw - minus the few already drawn
as prize winners?

I also wonder about the multiple time winners? How many people have won more than once? More than twice?

Pardon me, \i'm just a bit dubious about the oft-quoted 1:5000 figure.

You can write them and ask, I guess.

From the press release, it seems for every 5000 tickets sold, they include another car to award.

As for how they draw the raffle tickets.... maybe m_thompson knows.

I haven't witnessed a drawing in a very long time so I don't know what the current procedure is.
