you can buy color matched plugs for those holes as an alternative.

It's an alternative alright. They are genuine Euro Plate quality and you can get the mounting bracket with them as well. Unfortunately, you'll need to drill new hols for the mount although you can use 3M Automotive tape to hold the plate on instead. I had these on my X3, but decided to have the holes filled and a respray on the front of my 335 E92.

In Australia you can get Eurostyle plates legally through the state motor registry. Cost a bit of money though and have annual fees... But legal.

Here in the USA it's just an ornamental item on the Front in States that only have Official Plates on the Rear.

IMO...They look terribly tacky and juvenile. On the other hand...I like them because it allows me to recognize individuals I probably don't want to affiliate with from considerable distances.

It all depends on the state.. In NJ you need a back and front plate. You'll get a ticket for having a europlate in front even if the front plate reads the same as the back. I know some people put a euro plate under their US plate in the front but a cop can ticket you for that too if he wants to be a dick.

I bought one of these a few years ago as some front end "bling" for when I attended auto-crosses and/or track events. I thought it was kinda fun at first, but I must agree with the earlier comment in that I came to view it as a bit immature, so the plate is stashed in the garage and hasn't been used in years. Also I live in a state that requires a front end plate, and while I regularly flaunt that law (have been going without a front plate for years, and as long as I stay out of downtown Chicago it's not a problem) I figure putting a Euro plate on the front would simply draw attention to it. Finally, given a choice of no front plate or a Euro-style I really believe that no front plate looks 100% better - I don't care how cute a saying you dream up for the plate.

So you took the front plate off your car, and now there are holes. So your solution to the holes that were left behind by your real front plate is to run a fake front plate?

Ok...

I think the front plate looks stupid on my car, a European front plate would make it unique and look cool.

Ok...

just do it.

I'm going to have mine on this weekend.

I would have left it with no front plates, but since the previous owner hit someone it left 6 total holes and dents in the bumper. So A Europlate covers that up and make it unique. I do have the same plate # as my real plates.

IT does looks better since the Europlate doesn't cover up the lower grille like the real plates do, which looks stupid.

Plus, I don't drive that much, so less chance of getting caught.

Where I live you have to have a front and back plate, I never had a front plate on my old car and was pulled over around 7 times (one time for doing 100 in a 40 ;0 ) and no cop has ever complained about not having a front plate or 5% tint

Then you won't have to bother waving howdy to me & my Euro plate if you are ever in the Pittsburgh area - which is good because I'm anti-social anyway

The purpose of threads like this has always eluded me, why does anyone give a rats a$$ what other people think of their cars - do what ever makes you happy - you're payin for it

Maybe his state doesnt require a front plate and his dealer still put the tag holder on his bumper so they could put their dealer advertisement on it.... Which is my case. No reason to be a dick when this could have been the case.

It's not the case. See above.

My state requires a front plate, but I don't run one because I also hate how they look. If you like the euro plates better, then run those. Who cares what anyone else thinks?
