Post your BEST 'Miles until empty' number.

Well, I don't do too much highway driving/driving in high gear; or at least I don't right after I fill up my car, so my screen usually reads between 245 - 265 miles until empty. (daily driving I usually keep my revs between 2000-2500 and when the engine is warm I push 1st and 2nd from a stop (not holding... Shifts anywhere from 4500-redline, but I cruise in 4th/5th between 2 and 2.5k rpm) - I'm usually never in just D mode).

I digress... Today I drove on an open highway right after filling up and my miles until empty rose from an already high 280ish when I started driving to 294. I was hoping to get up to 300 or at least 295, but I was almost home and back on normal streets with lights and stuff, so the number just dropped from there.

So... Post your best, I'm curious!!

Wow... what model is your car? diesel? 4-cylindar? I didn't know that was even possible with gas tank in the E9Xs... I though 300 what super high for a 335i/is (i'm wondering what numbers people with a car similar to mine are getting).

@Ethanderall: that's quite high too! and the 325i is a 6-cylindar NA, right? What do 328i's get?

Maybe I'm just not driving for long enough periods of time at that high rate of speed haha.

That might be it lol I have an 09 335i Twin Turbo.

Ran 85 to 95 on the highway staying with traffic. Everyone was driving crazy fast. Probably because they all wanted to get to the lake, or because the highway is in the middle of BFE! Didn't see a single cop during the whole 6 hour drive. It seemed like the faster i went for longer periods of time the better mpg I was able to achieve. I made the 350 mile trip on one tank of gas and was still able to drive the 22 miles round trip to work the next day before filling up.

Wow, impressive! It would make sense that the faster you go the better mpg you will get because you are going more miles quicker, and you are cruising at a constant speed... so revs aren't pushing/you aren't 'accelerating' in the sense of pushing out more gas I guess (sorry if this doesn't make sense, it's hard to explain haha). Also, even though I have a 2012 model, the 335is is still the N54 twin turbo, so it should be about the same...

I bet I get some good numbers next time I drive down to Palm Springs from LA at night when there is no traffic. I'll fill up right before just to see how I do! haha

Sounds good! I do understand what you are trying to say lol

Are you sure you have the N54 motor? I thought they went to the Single Turbo N55 in 2010?

Good luck!!! I miss Cali

My car is 320D (2.0L Diesel). Average fuel consumption is around 5L/100km or 47MPG.
Im never actually driven that far. Normally i refuel when i have driven like 900-1000km(560-620miles).It still says 100-150km (60-100miles) to empty ,when im refueling.

Here is a picture what it is just now

I have driven 765km (475miles)
to empty its 366km (230miles)

Not quite true, The faster you go the more you have wind resistance and higher revs on engine etc.
If i want to get as far as possible with tank the best speed would be around 80km/h(50miles/h) at steady speed. If talking about normal traffic driving not something super economic driving.

N52---computer forecasted 525 during trip. Actual ended up being 515 miles. Drove 500 miles and filled up when on board said 15 to go. Took on about 15.5 gallons. Averaged 32.2. (another northern Michigan trip for this thread)

No picture. If I'm driving all highway and keep it around 75-78mph I can easily get somewhere between 550-600 miles. Just this past weekend I filled up near vero beach and drove to my home in west palm beach, to boca raton, back to vero beach and then to Tampa international airport (Marriott hotel) next day drove to Busch gardens, back to Marriott then left towards Jacksonville. Filled up in Lake Mary. Easily a 550+ mile trip; took in about 15.9 gallons. I love my d

positive. The 335is is an exception. Twin Turbo N54; it's been discussed here many times - a common mistake by most haha.

And thanks for the rest of the comments guys. Interesting discussion. I'm wondering what numbers others who do mainly city driving, like myself, are getting.
