Selling 335i to a friend - Is this a fair price?

Hey all, looking for opinions on whether I'm asking a fair price for this car. I am offering to sell it to a friend and I want to make sure we both can feel good about the deal. Any input you can give would be appreciated. Here are the details:

History: Second owner, clean car fax, no accidents

Repair History - Since new:

Driver Headlight Housing - Replaced under warranty in 2009 - manufacturer defect in plastic molding
High Pressure Fuel Pump: Replaced under warranty in 2009
Fuel Injector (replaced one) in 2012 - Dealer serviced
No repairs needed currently

17 inch winter wheels included - BMW, Style 188 - From 335xi coupe - Perfect condition (see pictures), no scratches - Include Blizzak tires; good tread but they are 6 years old and should be replaced.
5 mil spacers for rear winter wheels included, to match the offset of the summer wheels
Continental Extreme Contact sport/summer tires installed 2011 - Not run flat - About 5k miles on them
BMW Blackline tail lights - dealer installed
BMW iPod Kit - Dealer installed
BMW slime kit - includes slime and portable air compressor
BMW Anthracite all weather rubber floor mats - excellent condition (see pictures)
Roady XT Satellite Radio - Installed in sunglasses holder (see pictures) - Uses aux input and 12v socket, no hard wiring
Floating front license plate holder - under mounted to front bumper (see pictures)
Latest available Navteq map update
Everything else about the car is factory - no modifications or changes

Condition/Defects (pictures attached of each):

Minor scratches in wheel (too small to see in picture)
Dent in quarter panel (dime sized, no paint damage)
Bumper impression (dime sized, no paint damage)
Interior is perfect - no scratches, broken anything, wear, rips, or stains anywhere
Garage kept - driven as a second car, SUV does most commuting and winter duty
Never been raced or beaten - My friend has known the car since I bought it in 2008.

I have agreed to sell it for $22,500. Is this a fair price?

Thanks in advance

I just sold mine... same color same factory options EXCEPT color of interior.

I had 33,600 miles on my car.

dealer gave/showed me 21000 for my car if you factor in tax incentive the price value was 22500.

for yourself and for your friend (friend discount) I'd figure right around there.

the dealer will flip my car (or yours) for 25999 and sell it for 24999.

^ please note I didnt sleep at a holiday in express last night.

also KBB is around 20500 for your car and NADA is around 22750 (price estimate is selling to dealer in good condition)

ppp

p.s. lol just reread yours and found the price... it matched mine exactly. good luck !

Sure sounds reasonable to me! of course doing business with friends is always risky. You may want to let your friend take it to a Dealer for a checkup and assessment, but your price seems in the ball park.

This can be a Pro or Con. Pro being that you are hooking up your friend with a deal and plus he knows how the car was treated. Con being that whenever something may go wrong with the car, he will be at your doorstep asking you questions! From my recent experience from selling my Mercedes to a local guy (not a friend), he was constantly asking me questions whenever the car was giving him issues! With that being said, do what suits you.

Good point. He bought my last one, 2005 325i four years ago and that worked out. We will of course have his shop check this one out as well to make sure it's got a clean bill of health. It helps that he knows the car and it's service history, so he won't have to wonder what I know about the car that he doesn't.

+1,000

I pretty much gave my sister my last car. I asked her to just take over the last 4 payments of $350. SHE STILL 1.5 years later calls me for everything. Even if just a bulb went out. I would never do something like that again.

Seems like a great deal for him. You might be selling a bit on the low side. However, I assume that you're getting more than the trade in value offered by the dealer so you're also making out well

Very reasonable. I just traded in my 2007 e92 335i with 51 kmi for $22K. It had auto, sports, cold, and premium.

Why don't you sell the 188s separately?

The friend thing could go either way. Easy sale, or low price. In this case the price sounds kind of high. So I guess the friend doesn't want to quibble about money, which is good for the OP.

imho friend means no haggle, yes or no. If I were the buyer, it'd be a no.

Reminds me of when my coworker wanted to sell me her Suburban--since she was a friend, figured it'd be a friend price. She said, "I don't know, I'll have to ask my husband." Get the price, and it is full private party retail, for excellent condition. Just like this price on the 335i.

Help me out here, what exactly is a "friend price"? Does it differ from a fair market value in that you should give away some of the value of your car to your friend as a favor? By that same logic, why not say he should give you a little extra for it than he would give someone else, you know, because you're friends and all. The question here was simply, am I asking a fair price for the car. Everyone else so far seems to think I am.

Anyway, I asked for opinions, so while I think your answer was off topic, I appreciate the contribution.

The price was at the upper bounds of a 2007 sedan. It's a high price. Friend, or foe. You got a great deal. C'mon now, kbb is not a mystery.

Sure, let's look at that (I'd be happy to screen shot the options I selected):

Excellent Condition: We'll ignore this
Very Good Condition: $22,803
Good Condition: $22,253

Let's value the winter wheels at $350, fair? Look at the description and pictures and tell me, honestly, what am I missing?
