Both mirrors losing adjustment settings

We have an '08 335i sedan, and occasionally one of us will get in the car to find both side mirrors (driver and passenger) are adjusted way off. Sometimes this will happen a couple days in a row, then goes away again.

I've tried resetting the seat memories and while it might fix it at any given time, the problem eventually comes back.

I've read some posts about one or the other mirror losing adjustment due to a bad mirror motor, but both at the same time?

Anyone else had this problem?

I had my driver's side one do exactly this!! I thought I had a ghost in the system that kept messing with me.

I asked the dealer to check it out when my car was in for other warranty work, and as it turns out, my car wasn't haunted (as originally suspected); it was a bad mirror motor.

$50 deductible later it was good as new, and hasn't given me a problem since.

Hope that helped

The same thing happened to me today for the first time. I got in the car after pumping gas and both my mirrors were looking down, and all my radio station/idrive settings were gone. I think it had a problem reading my keyfob, because the next time I started the car, all of the settings were back.

That's the mirror monster, of course. But what are the odds for BOTH mirrors to do it (intermittently) at the same time...very low, I suspect.

Have you experienced any other electrical gremlins?

If so, consider the possibility of a low of failing battery.

I agree the chances of them both going are very low - hopefully it's a simple fix and not something more expensive (like BMW's $400 battery)
