2012 335is Launch Control not working??/

Hi guys, I bought a 2012 335is DCT about two months ago and I reached the 1200 mile break-in period yesterday and I tried using the launch control feature and it does not work. Does anyone know why? I am using the correct procedure I think, sport mode on, traction control off half way, and tranny in m1. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Also I noticed that unlike the M3 DCT, my car rolls forward on stop lights if I let go off the brake, just like a regular automatic would, this does not happen in the m3. Is this normal? Thanks!

You need to go back to the dealer and let them program the function to work...Its like a break in period in which they protect the car until it has reach break in...

As for the M3 thing -- are you talking DCT or SMG?

it is normal for the 335iS to roll forward after releasing the brake

it is mere software differences in the DCT that manages this both in the M3 and the 335iS. it is part of the drive logic programing in the M3 or other BMW DCT which are called M DCT.

are you letting the car reach normal operating temps before trying to use LC ?

if the car is too cold or too hot LC is disabled until it reaches normal temps

what tune are you using if you are ?

Hi, The LC finally worked after 1250 miles. i think the car just needed some more time. I am currently stock.

I'm having the same issue with my 2013 335is. Do you just need to drive it more to break in the vehicle? I have about 300 miles now.

Break in is until 1200 miles on all BMWs....you shouldnt exceed 5000 rpm until you are past 1200 miles, let alone try LC.

What is your car's temp? I think you need to have your temp between 220-240 or something. I had that problem before, my temp was too high...

I did read 1250 miles. However, there were conversations about temperatures and such... so I wasn't sure.

lol... I think we are little too late for that... Until car warms up, I don't drive like a speedracer but after car is warmed up, I do open the throttle up time to time. Way past beyond 5000 rpm.

I only try LC when the car is warmed up so I cant comment on the temp. However once you cross 1200, the car still needs a day or two for the LC to work. So just drive ti some more, lol. However I was really unimpressed with the LC the car spun so much that it made it slower than faster.

Then what's the best/correct way to launch for the best 1/4 mile track time or 60 ft trap time?

The best way is to turn dct half off, m1, brake boost and then let it rip.

I also was not able to use launch control. I have a 2012 335is. As I went to work on New Years morning there was virtually nobody on the street. I put it in sport mode and put the hammer down, holy crap. That thing bellowed on upshifts.

Just an FYI. Some useful info from my owner's manual.

"Launch control is available when the engine is at operating temperature, i.e. after driving continuously for approx. 6.2 miles/10km."

"Launch control is not available for use during the break-in phase."

Yeah, great sign that there are multiple 335is owners wondering why they can't use launch control with a few hundred miles on the clock.

You know damn well that they launched it "manually" over an over anyway. This is exactly why I never buy lease returns when it comes to any sort of performance car.

Easy there are some enthusiasts out there who actually read the owners manual, and bought a BMW to DRIVE, not destroy with crap mods and no mechanical sympathy...
