Key fob got stuck!

My wifey manage to make key fob stuck in the ignition. :mad:
Anybody had similar problem?

oh dear,

i would have thought that it would be very resistant to being pulled out while still in D.

that would certainly send out signals to say something is not right and dont pull it out.

i hope that theres no damage done to the remotes housing but i would have it fixed immediately rather than wait.

I probably would not tell them the exact moments that occurred before it got stuck. Just tell them the "it's stuck" part. Who knows, maybe they'll make you pay for any damage done if they know the truth.

My dialer fully booked till next week. Have to wait... It doesn't seem the car is affected.

I can remove key itself, but I woder if leaving car with fob inserted pose any danger of car get stolen?

No, it will not, but I'm not sure what will happen if you try to insert something else into the forb...

nope the chip is in the fob not the metal removable key, (exept valet key which is opposite)

the car will start with the fob and no metal key every time

Yes, car can be started with fob only, key doesn't matter.

Just off the service, they can not take fob out either, so the whole housing needs to be replaced + new fobs. Technitian said that this is not the first time they have fob stuck in E90.

My E90 today wouldn't let go of the damn key fob for the first time. I called the dealer and spoke with my service advisor. He said if it didn't come out, I'll have to take it in for service and have the unit replaced completely. I drove over there (I work like 10 blocks away) and after about 15 more mins of messing with it, and one drive around the block

(odd, I know) it came out.

I got scheduled for Jan 02 to drop it off. Hopefully it won't happen again but he said it takes about 3 days since they don't have them in stock. He also informed me that he's had to replace about 3 units so far. Quite annoying. :mad:

Since you both have had this problem I am curious as which month your E90 was produced.

FYI, look at the sticker on the drivers door jamm.

This happeded to me once (on a Saturday). I have CA so I never put the darn thing into the socket before. I pushed it in, I think a little too hard, and it stuck. I freaked out and called BMW assist. Well, they didn't assist, told me to take it into the dealer on Monday.

I wasn't about to leave the fob in the ignition all weekend, so I grabbed it (not much to grab onto) and pulled like a SOB and it came out. I never put it in since.

I guess I should have it looked at next time it's in for service.
