I think they look good, far better than domestic plates anyway, but plain is never bad, so long as you plug the holes. Trouble with the hole plugs is that you have to drill out the dealer-drilled holes to a larger size, so if you ever get pulled over and have to 'temporarily' mount a legit front plate to satisfy the fix-it ticket, you'll need to get new mounting screws and the whole thing becomes a minor PITA.
As for getting pulled over, in California about 25% of all cars on the road don't have front plates or run cosmetic plates, and the law just isn't that rigorously enforced.

I just find it show-offish. What are you really trying to advertise about yourself?

Why would you put on a european plate unless you lived in Europe and they required it ?

When I bring my car to the U.S., if I move to a state with no front plate requirement I'd probably get a personalized plate that matches what I have now and leave the UK plate on the front. Would that be too show-offish or attention grabbing?

If you want to advertise that you are from Euro it seems OK, but still a bit much IMO.

"Yes it's a European Car, "WE GET IT"... Looks silly... IMO, there's even someone running around with a Europlate under their US Plate... As if to say... I dunno, I'm to lazy to remove the old plate? Or "Looky Here I've Got a Euro Plate, Proof I've been Overseas"? I dunno, I'd say NO, not even a little bit, it's what garages are for. :rocks:

I say YES! I live in Cali and yes I could get a ticket but what the heck! Reminds me of the fun I had in Europe. And it's something unusual. I think it's cool!
(really bad pic. Since then I have a painted holder and covered those nasty screws.) |

that's just one step above ricers sticking a vinyl "HONDA" decal onto the front windshield of their Honda Civic.. "ok, we get it. it's a craptastic Civic."
or.. like those red neckers that drive a (insert Ford, Chevy, Dodge truck name) who feel they need to stick on a giant vinyl sticker of their truck logo on the back window. |

no front plate required in AL - a nice change from OH, where the front plate was there only to serve as a nice reflective surface for the highway patrol to aim the laser at before they pulled you over

I've already got four holes up there courtesy of the delivery center; that's why I'm considering it. I actually wasn't even thinking about it (for the reasons mentioned here) but I passed a 3 with one on there yesterday and I thought it looked ok.

I think it looks fine... I have one but haven't mounted it yet due to a combination of apathy and not finding the right tools. The only things that look silly, IMO, are the Euro plates on domestics and Japanese cars... I seem to see Euro plates on non-Euro cars more than on actual Euro cars. Othewise, I find them unique and cool looking... I love them on the press release photos and it's almost like it's a part of the car that's got to be there. To each their own.
