Try turning on your lights so that they are shining on your garage door or a wall then get inside and turn the wheel back and forth and you will see them move. I also notice at night when I'm driving.

aha!! I always keep my lights off... and turn them on as needed... Why wont this feature work while having the lights on as opposed to auto?

That is correct. Your lights have to be in the Auto position to 1) Turn with the wheel.(Adaptive function) 2) Activate the cornering light function.
Your headlamps will still auto-level, but not be adaptive with the lights in the On position. You can still turn them on and off if you wish, just turn them to the left (A) to turn them on from now on, versus turning them to the Right (On) position. Hope this helps. |

When you are driving slow or at a standstill, it only rotates to the right. This is so that you dont blind on-coming drivers. When you are driving at a moderate speed, the swivels both right AND left. I *think* it goes into some detail about this in the manual.
Edit: Also see: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...light=adaptive However, I believe the cornering light (rather than the adaptive lights) for the E92 on the left side comes on whether you are stopped or not... |

People may ask, why don't you just keep it on auto and the answer to that is: I keep my car in a garage and don't need the headlights to come every time I start the car or pull into it during the daytime.

hehe makes sense My friend also told me that when you have it on Auto... if your lights are on when you lock the doors they turn off as opposed to keeping them on the "on" position they will stay on when you lock your car and kill your battery...

Hello all. I have a headlight question myself. I always have my headlight switch on "auto" and they have come on in the garage in the morning, as I back out... and shortly after, turn off... and on the way home, turn on around dusk... just as they should. I had a software update done recently, and now, the headlights never go out. The Xenons are on all day long. I have to physically turn the dial to the off position in order to get the daytime running lights to activate and have the Xenons turn off. Anyone have any ideas on this? I have gone through every menu within the iDrive, but cannot locate anything to correct the problem.
Seeking any advice!!! |

Also, if you aren't conviced that your adaptive feature is working...turn on the high beams (if your lights are in auto of course), and you can really see the lights move in front of you.

I don't want to keep mine on "auto" anymore, since they never shut down... even in the middle of the day, with the sun shining bright. So... until I figure out what has changed with my car's headlight system... I am going to have to switch them manually.

As mentioned above, many people don't want the lights to come on in the garage and then quickly shut off after you pull out into daylight. The theory being that you diminish the life of the HID igniter/ballast by cycling the lights on/off.
