pacquaio out cold in the 6th
that's right... out cold, nailed with one clear hit! with his previous fight losing (controversially) by decision and now this... is it all downhill from here for the pac man?
i didn't get to watch the fight, had to read about it round by round: http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2012...marquez-live-4 Last edited by amanda hor$t; 12-09-2012 at 01:13 AM.. |

i was streaming it live last night at midnight on sportlemon.tv
Pac was brutalizing Marq in the 5th and the entire 6th round. Pac got cute and got caught with a vicious right. he got pucnhed, the bell rung and he was out before he hit the deck - all that happened in less than half a second.... |

damn, no respect to the pac man..
watched the whole thing: Pac started strong rounds 1 & 2. But Marq defended well and composed himself. Pac 10-9 both rounds. Round 3 Marq knocked Pac off his feet. Probably a wake up call for Pac to get his shit straight (or so he should have thought). Marq 10-8 Rounds 4-5 Pac more aggressively on the offense. Marq also countered and defended well, but often times ended in a short brawl, and Marq seemed to show his age and got a little tired out. Pretty even here, maybe slight edge to Pac Round 6 seemed an obvious Pac's round until the vicious KO. Marq seemed to have deteriorated from trying to keep up with Pac's constant attack mode. Again, didn't do bad at all, still good counters here and there, but this round he got slow, couldn't prevent many of punches to his face, and got all bloodied up. Overall, this was Pac's dominant round until Pac got careless with 1 second to go on the round, and stepped right into Marq's winding counter. |

Who was the better fighter? Last night it was Marq. I thought Pac was going to win as the fight started, but what led to the last second of the 6th round is Marq's life-long devotion and preparation to beat Pac that really proved effective. Despite his lack of physical ability, thus getting beaten up in 5 & 6, his mind stayed completely focused and managed that beautiful counter KO punch.
On the other hand, Pac didn't really devote his career to this fight. He just trusted his physical talent (which he shouldnt really have because he's past his prime now), and got a little too aggresive to a point where he got sloppy after that first KO in Round 3. His sloppiness, getting old, and lack of homework lost his fight. If ever there will be a 5th, I think I'd bet on Pac. |

^ good point
watched the fight last night, and have to say that Marquez had a game plan from the beginning. When Manny was down during the 3rd round, he should have thought for a minute what he was doing. well deserved victory for Marquez. I hope there won't be another Manny vs Marquez V |

He needs to wake up and realize he cant run a country and try to become one of the best boxers in the world. It's impossible to do both.

so yes, he actually was doing both for quite a while. but he's at the point now to where he's already boxed for 17 years - time to hang them up. |

I'd say his career was in the decline the moment he took over.

pac first started "politic-ing" in 2007 or 2008.
he didn't win his election spot until @ 2010. from 2010, he won like 3 or 4 hard fights against tough opponents - 3 of them Mosley, Margarito and Marquez. when he started "politic-ing", he was pretty much undefeated for 3 years until he lost that stupid fight to Bradley. that loss to Bradley probably took more out of him than getting KO'd by JMM.... so, IMO, he won 10 fights in a row when he sarted getting into politics.....politics didn't have much effect on him as that decision he lost to Bradley.... |

Bound to happen I guess... and he's been too busy juggling between Congressman, actor, singer, game show host and boxer
