New w/ a few questions

Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum. I have a 2007 e90 328xi jet black.

I had a question about the step tranny. Is it true that you are not supposed to rev in neutral?

Also those who have black cars, what do you think the best wax for black is?

You can rev it in neutral, just not too high and often.

I don't see a reason to why you need to rev the engine while engaged in 'N'. If you do rev it once in a while, I am sure it will not have any long term effects.

Many people on this forum recommends using a sealant manufactured by Zaino. It should give you great results. However, if you are demanding the absolute best, layers of quality Carnauba Wax will give you a rich deep colour to your black car. But the down side is that wax is not as long lasting as a synthetic sealant. So unless you are really demanding the best and willing to wax the car more often, then go with Zaino. It satisfy most people if not all.

search the detailing forum, lots of good info there.

revving the engine with no load is never a good thing, but it wont kill the car. Just wasting gas, and adding wear and tear.

+1 for Zaino.

Read ove the detailing forum for many other thoughts on this issue. Be warned it is somewhat of a "religious war" about what is the best wax though.

Welcome aboard.

Won't get into the wax debate... too subjective. Whatever you use, do it well and often and you'll be good!
