So what happens if...
...you have a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde driving style. How will this car adapt to your driving style?
I mean, if you drive like Dr. Jekyll 98% of the time because of the horrendous traffic all around you, and only very occasionally push the car anywhere near it's potential, how is the car ever going to know to behave in a way that will satisfy Mr. Hyde? Is the car going to fail to respond adequately when suddenly pushed? I guess this question has the most implications for those with Auto's, but maybe it applies to MT drivers too?

Auto yes it will be slow and sluggish, tap it into sport mode and floor it. The harder you push the car the harder it will push back and adapt. Manual wont matter you change the gears just get the car in the power band.

I wonder the same too because I have two very different driving styles. in D, I drive like a normal driver. in DS, I drive like I want to race with everyone on the road. I wonder how the car adapt or know when i want to push it.
My habit is that right after switch to DS, I hit the DTC button once to allow some wheel spin. I hope the computer is smart enough to see my pattern, but I doubt BMW programmers are that smart, just look at other software in BMW compare to others. |

Yeah, I guess it all comes down to how smart the BMW programmers are. Anyone else care to venture a guess?
Could this be one more good reason to own a MT?

So, the computer can adjust with our driving style? Never heard of it. But, I barely floor it so will it make the car less responsive?
I felt the turbo has more lag after the HPFP replacement, does it due to my driving style?

I go in spurts. There will be a number of days I will push the car really hard.
And for a few days I just cruise. Have found that the day i switch styles the car has issues (going from fast to slow - shifts are not as well timed and a bit jerky, from slow to fast - shifts are just slow). This occurs for the first day or so and then I find the car has adapted itself. If you are constantly shifting styles you never get the best of both worlds. |
