Good find!
As to the coupes, it looks like they just raised the price on ZPP and the base prices of the 335i...I guess they wanted to recoup the expense of replacing all those HPFP.

I don't even see where it went up, though I don't have the exact figures. There was an increase mid '07, and I show the '08 is only $480 more than my car, which was ordered in 10/06. 1% when most of our increases are in the 7% range plus bonus? Everyone should go for the '08 imho, bye-bye '07!

I priced an 08 equipped the same as my April-build 2007 335i Coupe and the MSRP is identical. No price increase at all? The rumors where 6%... guess not.

They same equiped car I was looking at last month is actually cheaper now. The HD radio is on my list and it went from $500.00 to $350.00. So it's a hundred dollars and some tax cheaper. Also I hope some of the problems are fixed. I'll be at the dealer bright and early tomorrow.

Just to point out, those prices (at least the 335i Coupe) at $37,535 is the same as the 2007.5 prices and these are INVOICE prices, not MSRP.

It's yet to be seen what the MSRP prices will be.
But either way, I'm surprised they didn't raise the invoice price on the base car.

I guess I'm missing something, but what's funny here?

If you haven't already ordered your car, you can't get a 2007.5 anymore.
Any new orders since August 1st will be 2008 cars.

For a while there were posts asking should people wait or not, as if not waiting would beat a price increase. Seeing as there isn't any price increase (I don't see how there could be because it's only $480 more than my 10/06 order), who wants a '07? Nobody should...

Clear proof that it's supply/demand, and on the supply side, they are not free to charge anything they want either....I suppose 25+ 335 sedans on the lot says something. Zero to one coupe as well......

I'd disagree here.
Now is the time for bargain shopping for 335i Sedans.
Left over 07.5's will soon be able to be had (if not already) at bigger discounts.
For someone who wants the 335i but doesn't want to spend $3K more for the 08 model, now would be the time to pick one up.

Same with lease's.
Bet you could save $75+ a month on a 07.5 sedan sitting on the lot than what they'll let the 08's go for when they hit the lot in a month and a half.

Many times the only reason to buy the newest model year version is if there is a major change to the car (like 06 to 07) but other than that, now is the time for deal making on the essentially exact same car just with a build date a month or so earlier.

If you are going to be leasing then do it know and take advantage of whats left. If you are buying then in about 6 weeks you will have a 1 year old car. $3k will not make up for 1 year of depreciation

You're right, I'm speaking figuratively. If an order were to be placed, and let's say optimistically you could get a coupe in 7 wks., I would not take an '07. What I would do is hammer the dealer for a comparable deal on an '08. There will be a point where it isn't the case that every coupe is sold on paper.

By all means, when dealers have 25+ 335 sedans in stock, those will be priced to move as opposed to ordering a '08. But given the seemingly lack of a price increase, the '08 looks really good by comparison.

Depreciation only matters if you are selling the car moments after you buy it...or say within a year or so.

Look at it this way:

Say in summer 2012 someone is looking for a used 335i

They find two cars they like both identical but one is a late model 2007 ("2007.5") and the other a 2008.

Both have about 60k miles on them, both in excellent condition.
But the late model 2007 is priced about $2k less.

Which one do you think the buyer is going to get??

A low mileage car that is a model year older is often more desireable than a one year newer model year car with the same mileage. As the 2007 year car is considered "low mileage" since it only has 12K miles per year, while the 2008 has average miles per year since it has 15k per year, when really the two cars were made 2 months apart.

In the example above the buyer got the late model "2007.5" car for $3k less than he could get the 2008 car for, but he sold it for only $2k less than what an identical 2008 car was selling for. That's puts him $1k ahead.

Sure $1k isn't a big deal, but the point is, if you can get a better deal now on a late model 2007 it may be a better financial decision to buy than have to wait another 6-8 weeks and pay more for the same.

That's true, for me and you and most car enthusiasts...if I was buying right now or in the next few weeks.
But for the average consumer, many will choose the better deal now than paying more and having to wait another month or so.
That was my "devil's advocate" point.

Go to the second page of the pdf file... it has the MSRP prices listed.
