Will Ferrell's Newest Role
He's taken delivery of a Hydrogen 7. I wouldn't have thought of him as a BMW guy but then again most celebrities are all about 'saving the planet' and 'global warming' so now they can drive luxury sedans instead of a Prius...now that I think of it kinda makes sense...

Only emits water? What about the production of hydrogen? That makes emissions and requires fossil fuels 95% of the time. This is just like an electric car. Zero emissions! What about the coal burning to generate the electricity to power the damn thing. Idiots

There is in inevitable boil off. Keeping hydrogen at the right temperature even with a very insulated vacuum thermos is impossible. That's how I understand it anyway. There is no hydrogen anywhere and the hydrogen we have is from natural gas. Without a viable source of hydrogen this car is completely pointless.

Just to clairify:
Hydrogen is easily created by passing an electric current through water. It doesn't have to come from oil reserves. Electricity can be generated using non-poluting sources such as windmills. By this method, the only byproduct from a hydrogen powered car really is just water. oh and Will Farell isn't funny |

I agree that there just wouldn't be enough windmills (or whatever) to meet demand. Idealy, you would have to place windmills at the shoreline and pipeline it inland. It's the same probem with ethanol. It can be distilled from alot of sources, but the cheapest (right now) is corn. I don't see a time when we could grow enough corn, either. |

I said a viable option though. I know it's possible, but how much hydrogen do we actually generate with windmills? None maybe .01%? Even if you use all wind that wind electricity could have gone to places that are using coal instead. If you want emission free energy the only good universal source is nuclear. Even then you'd probably be better off with an electric car.

+1 on the ethanol issue. It's common knowledge in business that more gasoline is used in the agricultural development of corn-based ethanol than is gained from the ethanol it self.
