Painted or Carbon Fiber Performance Spoiler?
I have an Alpine White 328i xdrive and I can't decide if I should go with the carbon fiber M Performance Spoiler or have it painted to match car?
I already ordered the gloss performance grill and can't decide on which spoiler to get. The carbon does look aggressive and a nice contrast with the white but not sure if it would look weird since I don't have the M package. |

I'm in the same boat as you. I know I want the M-Perf spoiler, just don't know if I want it in Alpine White or CF. AW is the safer more subtle route but the CF could really make it pop and add that bit of aggresivness

It would make it much easier if I saw them both in real person.

Pls - help me decide which lip spoiler to get for my Black 328 sport
Help me decide which lip spoiler to get for my Black 328 sport. I want to make decision ASAP as I have some vacation time soon.
First saw jcsportline while pursuing e-bay, then various other suppliers including aspec, ind, etc. and about 3 styles and variations; including CF and paintable. My first thought was to go carbon fibre route and match my overpriced BMW CF rear spoiler, but can't tell from e-bay pics if the weave is at all similar or if will matter. The other concerns are the huge price deltas - as large as $1200. Lastly, do I trust a China based supplier - is this more hassle then the price savings justify???? About the only good thing I can say about M Performance parts is that they are a known commodity - way overpriced and had to get, but known. |

I have the carbon fiber spoiler on my aw sport line and my mirrors and grilles are the gloss black and it looks great. I also have the interior carbon fiber. I'd like to post pics I just don't know how to from my phone.

I was having this same issue. I REALLY wanted the CF Spoiler but since there isn't a CF M-Sport splitter, I didn't want them not to match. In the end, I got the ABS M-Sport spoiler & had it custom painted black w/matte clear with a body color (EBII) gloss edge which I think turned out great. Im getting the M-Sport front splitter, painting the wings body color and doing the lip in black w/matte clear to match.. (Now I just haveta live with the radiator grills and brake cooking ducts being a different color black than the rest)

You should choose the one that will correspond to the overall aesthetic you are willing to support. The CF one will cost you more in the long run, the reason being you'll have to buy it along with other bits to balance the overall look of the car.
If you pick a CF one, you will be bolting a grey thing onto the back of your car. If that's all you do, that's exactly what it'll look like, something bolted on the back of the car. On the other hand, if you have other CF things attached to the car's exterior to balance the one on the trunk end, it can look nice. Now, if you go with the AW one, you won't have those issues. Put it on, and if you want to add more aesthetic bits, you can, if not, don't. In either case, it will never look as "look what I tacked onto my car" as the CF one will. Or to put it another way, the car will wear the spoiler, not the spoiler wearing the car.

I thought about getting the CF spoiler and only paint matching the top or something along those lines. Not sure if there are lines on the spoiler that would allow for that easily though.

There are a couple. It's something you really have to see in person though. In most pics it looks pretty similar to the matte black.
I was going to order today but the CF are still on backorder. Picked up some gloss black grills @ McKenna that I'm going to install over the weekend. |
