I have a Cooper S with the Works Kit, 210 bhp - its a flyer, and it handles great - it has a character like no other car, I'd highly recommend it....
Few pics attached.....

My gf loves the Mini. She's planning to get one soon. I'm trying to convince her to get a stick shift but she doesn't know how and wont learn.
I test drove a Mini and it's a great car. Handles great for a FWD.

I love the cooper, although i dont have one. The stock S does the slollom better than some Ferraris!
I think its a sick car with a bad stigma ( chick car ) . then again, i wish my girlfreind liked the cooper and/or had one. That would be a nice little garage w/ the e90 for comfort and the cooper for excitement. Not that the e90 isnt!

I test drove a cooper S,
and without the claimed 11 month wait time I may have gotten one instead of my 3. it was one of the most "fun" cars I've ever tested an absolute blast for a FWD car, good power, great tranny....... plenty of room for the front 2 passengers too |

I've got a Cooper, and it's been a total blast over the past 3 years. I'd get the Cooper S if I were you, the supercharger makes sooo much difference to the performance and character of the car, not to mention the ease of swapping out the standard pulley for one a bit smaller
If you're going to get a car while you wait for the 335, and you want something that handles brilliantly, looks great, and puts a smile on your face every time, the 'S' is it, no question. --m

I don't understand why people would say its a good car for a girl. If you've driven a Cooper S, you would know that's not true. It may not be as fast as a SI, SRT-4, S2000 etc but IMO, it has much more character than any car in it's price range. Plus resale values are strong. |

I drove a cooper for 3 month mid this year when my E46 was stolen. Cute to look at and drive. But very uncomfortable. Bad seats and very loud when driven fast.
Great fun for any trip of less than 100miles. But not suitable for long hauls.

I had a MINI Cooper "S". It is a wonderful machine but not for everyone and not in direct competition with the 3 series BMW. While still considerably better than average, the residual value has slipped during the past year as MINI supply has moved closer to demand.
If you really want a E-90 and are ready to buy a new car, I suggest that you consider buying now. It will be a rare day indeed when you will be able to take advantage of th increased straight line performance of the larger engine in the 335 variant. |

I ordered one last winter, and canceled it in May. After waited for 6 months, and told by sales 6 more months wait time... I decided to go with 325i since they are about the same price. (Cooper S Works is like $32,000).

The JCW package is dealer installed unless there has been a recent change of policy. The parts list is fairly exhaustive. Rather than rely on memory, I recommend that you contact a MINI dealer for full particulars. |

Thanks for comments on mini. If I buy a mini, life really comes to a full circle. I grew up with Mini Austin in the early 70's. I learned how to drive with a mini. Those days 1300cc with double barrel carb; 0 to 60 was 10.3 sec I believe. Man, it was fast then
We went to a Mini dealer. We were told that it only take 7 to 8 weeks for delivery. Not sure how reliable it is. Still not able to decide if I should: 1. order 330i now and wait for the end of next year to order 2007 Mini with longere version, or 2. order 2006 mini NOW and wait for June to get a 335i coupe. I have been postponing purchase a new vehicle for so long, I am just tired. uD |

Mini is all about fun.
I set in my friend's MCS and it can do some crazy performance and turns BUT.... it feels like you are sitting inside a plane cockpit ..... w/o any windows so you will be deaf when you are done. The seats are very uncomfortable and the whole setting is very hallow <--- that is the term my mind comes up with...
