Increasing performance on 330D

Hi, iv got a stock BMW 330D which is running at 204bhp and was impressed at first with the performance. Only up until my friend took his Alfa 156 2.4 Diesel who claims it to be running at 190bhp after a remap on the run against my 330D. I found that I pulled away at start but it seemed after few seconds he pulled away rapidly.. I understand that both cars are of different weights and the 330D is a much heavier car but i was disappointed with performance..
I'm planning on increasing the performance of my car and i was wondering if anyone had any ideas???

I am thinking about remaping the engine but i think that the stock BMW clutch will not be able to handle the increase in torque therefore this is one that will need to be replaced with a stronger one. I'm not sure if putting a bigger turbo will contribute much to favouribly influencing performance...

Any Ideas or help would be much appreciated

This is an e46, right ? A good ECU flash will give you +45 hp / +90 nm ( numbers are crank ). I would not do anything with the clutch.

Hey thanks for that advice e.n355. Yes i think it is an e46 model.. How can i tell?

When you say ECU Flash, do you mean getting the car tuned/remapped?? I was told that the stock basic BMW clutch could not handle the increase power... i dont know if this is true??

Yes, tuners offer different products depending upon year. Check out chip-tuning.com

My car was tuned by Kempower, see ref below. So far no problem at all with any car component... and I drive heavy foot

I would not be worry about clutch, a bmw engineer told me once that the clutch break point is 1.7x the original torque on manual even 2.0x on auto.

I would just perform remapping, you will get a very nice performance increase already...
