Well MOT was today
I got away with it very lightly really, its a shame that what needed done, wasnt cheap! -track rod end dead on nearside. Means new TRE, and alignment. I hummed and ho'd over getting a BMW track rod end, but in the end settled for Lemforder because the garage could do me a better deal on fitting costs. My experience is that Lemforder are usually better than BMW parts anyway! -front tyres, outside shoulder worn on my RFT's. So taking the chance to get away from RFT's and having Continental Sport Contact 3 94W XL tyres fitted. Hopefully with that, and the laser 4 wheel alignment, the car will feel good as new again. on the plus side, no other issues, no advisories, and no concerns. Car was tip top now to get that bloody bumper painted! Last edited by shrink; 04-23-2013 at 06:35 AM.. |

well bad timing at the moment, as i'm between two jobs and pay is a bit messed up. So have opted just to do the fronts for now. and next month i'll look to get the rears replaced too!

I changed my rears 2 weeks ago and it made the whole car feel crazy and wobbly. Then I had the tracking done and the fronts changed and all is good again. The tracking was massively out and the front tyres were worn very unevenly.
It's worth getting it done as it can mess up your new tyres and the feel of the car if it is out. With mine I think the tyres had worn to the bad alignment and when I had it straightened and the rears changed it felt horrible. |

well its my fronts that are getting done along with a full 4 wheel alignment, so should be OK.
quite annoyed that i'll likely need to replace the rears sooner rather than later, as they have tons of tread on them, and would probably have been good for at least another year. |

He'd probably make a better job of the alignment too. I'm not sure if their machine has taken into account the fact that my car has sport suspension. The sheet just says E90 2005 standard suspension. Do sport and se models have different alignment specs.
Also now my steering wheel is slightly off centre. Would I be being picky by asking them to sort it? |
