PICS: Pagani Huayra!!! PLUS, 2013 Gallardo and MORE!
Tonight was just one of those nights for a car enthusiast.
I was driving around by UCLA with my buddy and his C63, getting some food and what not. We had heard that there was a Huayra in town at the Beverly Wilshire hotel in Beverly Hills a few blocks away. (technically illegally since it's not street certified to drive in the US) Drove over there, took some, sadly iPhone only, pics of the car along with a G65 (YES, 65, V12) and a brand new Bentley Continental GT coupe. Met up with another buddy who drives a Carrera S and went for a little canyon drive up in the hills of Beverly Hills and then parted ways. I sat in the back (thankfully I'm not tall)... but that Porsche was something else. Not back-breaking fast (it was an '08), but the interior was awesome and it handled beautifully! *Funny enough, as we were leaving the hotel to go drive, we saw non other than Ashton Kutcher drive up, take a few looks at the Pagani and then walk into the hotel. Gotta love Beverly Hills.... Without further adieu, here are the pics! Sadly none of my BMW, or the C63 and Carrera S... New Gallardo (sorry, they're blurry!)

The Pagani's plates are Saudi and I'm pretty sure the owner is in one of the pics talking to his friend who most likely came with the Bentley. Cool car but isn't it street legal in the States?

Nope... still not street legal. There goal is to make it street legal but that has yet to happen. They've done the crash test, which they never did with the Zonda, but the NHTSA has yet to approve the car.

Ya, we met the owner. He didn't really speak much english at all. Car is from Saudi Arabia. That 999 license plate probably cost him anywhere from $100,000+
Still not street legal. And no, we were walking out, and I did a double take when I saw Ashton Kutcher haha. Definitely him though.

You are right! it is from Saudi Arabia. However if it is for one of the corrupted ruling family then they will be treated as diplomats and it will be here as long as they stay.

I heard the Huayra was in town and headed to the Beverly Wilshire a few days ago to see it too. I got some great photos that I could upload later as well. The quality and craftsmanship of the Huayra was simply breath-taking. The G65 (not available here in the US either) was also pretty cool. They both had Saudi plates and i'm guessing belonged to the same owner. Dirk A. Photography was also there in an Ariel Atom 3 taking photos of the Huayra when I was there as well. LA has become the new summer hot spot for those from the middle east........there was also a LP560 and a Bentley Mulsanne when I was there with plates from qatar; many of them fly over their cars for the summer. That Huayra though...WOW.

Dirk is actually good friend of a couple of my good friends. I haven't personally met him yet tho. Love his photography! Definitely love that Huayra though! Simply stunning! Like a piece of art... a really really fast, expensive piece of artwork.

I think there is some sort of loophole for importing cars from other countries if you are working in the US. A neighbor of mine has a Merc G300D with Swiss plates on it. They never imported the G300D to the US as far as I know. They've been here for quite a while with it.
I also saw a Seat Leon a couple years back with Spainish plates on it. This guy may be working in the US and brought it here through some loophole as a diplomat or something like that. Very sweet car! Thanks for sharing.

The car wasn't 'imported.' It isn't street legal in the US because it hasn't passed crash tests, emissions, etc. The guys who brought them over, loaded them on their private jets, flew them over and had them shipped to the hotel. The car basically sits there all day. He does drive it around Beverly Hills every once in a while, but only at very odd hours. If he gets pulled over, he will get a ticket... but I doubt he cares. They are visiting for about a month, then flying the cars back home.
Definitely an amazing machine, and I feel so lucky to have seen it in person! Here is a short video compilation

Yeah no kidding. I come from a "middle class millionaire" family (liquid net worth $4M-$5M - not me personally of course, but my dad) and I feel dirt poor when I look at pictures like this. I mean practically speaking I know I'm privileged as hell. Not every dad will buy you a brand new 335i outright as a graduation present, but still I'm not gonna lie, I envy the lifestyles of these guys. |

That's what I thought as well but they've already completed the crash test so I'm not really sure what the hold up is. Emissions would be an easy fix so I doubt that's a main factor. I read that the goal was March, but that has come and gone.
