James Gandolfini

Died in Italy tonight. Aged 51. His performance as Tony was immense. A big, big loss.

absolute horror when i heard this news.

never missed an episode, greatly admired T and enjoyed how he brought brutality, infidelity, and corruption to a loving, emotional level. and then in 2004 i saw him on the show "inside the actor's studio" where i heard the real man come to life... it was hard to tell the difference. James Gandolfini- you were a magnificent and talented actor, a kind man, and will be greatly missed. May you RIP

RIP Tony

The sopranos is by far and away my favourite television show. It was ground breaking stuff and its success can largely be attributed to James' incredible performance. Genius.

Condolences to his friends and his young family.

Whatya gonna do!!

Very sad for his family and fiends.

I've got to ask, no offense to anyone, but i always assume that people post in these threads to pay respects to the departed. But then i see everyone posting up RIP. I mean if you're really paying respect to the departed wouldn't you write out 'rest in peace' rather than abbreviate it?

Isn't that kind of like the equivalent of a chest bump rather than a hand shake? Or like throwing a flower in a casket while running by instead of placing in the departed's lapel?

I'm assuming that no one is related to James, so i'm assuming i'm offending no one. I'm just curious to find out if that's the new way to do it....RIP?

in the motosport industry, i have always used and seen RIP as a sincere condolence... i do not see disrespect whatsoever. even Robin Williams used it today.

regardless, the loss of James is a tremendous hit on the acting community. a remarkably talented man.... my heart extends itself to his family.
