2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray 0-60 3.8 seconds, 1/4 mile 12 seconds, corner with 1.03g

GM released official performance numbers of the upcoming Stingray. Equipped with the Z51 package, the LT1 will power the new 'Vette to 60 MPH in 3.8 seconds. Only .1 second slower than the outgoing 505 HP Z06. Will reach the quarter mile in 12 seconds, stop you from 60 in 107 ft, and will put you through 1.03g's in the corner.

GM did their testing at VIR and did a lap around the track in 2:51.78. While VIR doesn't officially record lap times, looking at C&D's Lightning Lap times, that is C6 ZR1( with the Michelin PS2 tires) territory. The only vehicles faster than that are the ZR1 with the Michelin Cup tires, Ferrari 458 Italia, Mosler Photon, Viper SRT10 ACR, and Mosler MT900S. So the Stingray with the Z51 package is faster than the LF-A, GT-R, etc.

I know that's not exactly apples vs apples. We'll see what C&D will get when they take the Stingray around the track themselves, but that is an impressive performance.

C&D Lightning lap results.

God forbid what the Z06 and ZR1 performance numbers will be like. Probably traction limited until the tyres hook up then watch out! Great numbers GM.

Too good to be true. I don't expect this out of 60K.

A Corvette Stingray equipped like the test car used at VIR would cost $56,590

that part and...

So the Stingray with the Z51 package is faster than the LF-A, GT-R, etc.

this.

I thinks it's entertaining how GM now makes some of the best handling cars in their respective classes. C7, ATS, Camaro SS 1LE.

I would agree about the C7 and ATS, but the Camaro SS drives like a boat. At least the sight lines in the boat are amazing! Haha

GM needs to step it up. Corvette sales are in the toilet and carry that old people stigma. I saw two grandmas driving Corvettes last week. I am excited to see one in person and drive it on the track.

Poor economy, plus the C6 was approaching 10 years old will do that for a niche vehicle.

Difference is BMW survived on very good leases. Plus, BMW's are more practical than 'Vette's. Easier to justify spending $50K on a car that can still fit the family. Harder to justify $50K for a two seat sports car....

Awesome, Corvettes will always be the original performance bargain in my book, sorry GTR

Can't wait for the base model, let alone the coming hi-po flavors!

Do you know what your talking about in the slightest?

Within the past couple years, GM HAS been stepping it up and the whole point of the stingray is to focus sales towards a younger crowd.

Agreed, driving on track is a must

Vettes have very good leases. Sales are down because younger people aren't transitioning into them. They carry a very negative stigma "Corvette Guy" "Corvette Grandma" The car is fast around a track but can be very skittish on the street when driven aggressively. Also lets not forget just a junk interior.

But this car could be a turning point. I'm excited.

He's right though. Corvettes carry the old people stigma. Only young person I've seen driving a corvette was a young Arab guy driving a ZR1. Other than that, it's always old people driving them. Corvettes are also a dime a dozen, so I've seen plenty of them. ALL old people!

Many have images and egos to buy with.

Not me. Give me a blade silver or black.
I'll grandpa my arse right past just about anything and have money left over for a Tahoe
