Is the M performance power kit worth the $$

I just recently purchased my 2013 335i sedan. I added the M sport pgk, along with several options. I was not made aware or the M Performance power kit by my salesman until after taking delivery and doing some online research. Has anyone purchased a 2013 335i and added this kit or had it added etc? Leaning towards getting it by its only listed at $1,100 MSRP which is a great deal for 25 hp and 30 lbs of torque. Any advice is greatly appreciated .

Lots of info in the N55 engine section of the forum. I have it and it is the best money I've ever spent on modifying a car. So yes! And that is a good price.

Definitely worth it, as it adds a lot more than just engine power - dynamic suspension, steering, and other parameters are tweaked as well.

Overall it made my car feel and drive like a lighter vehicle, that is the best way I can describe it. Imagine going out for a jog with a 75lb backpack on, then midway through, you take off the backpack. That's how the power kit felt to me

Really I haven't heard this, do you have a place to read up?

There should be plenty of posts with links in this section, particularly the one named "M-Performance Power Kit Installed". I immediately noticed the difference after the installation - throttle mapping was a lot more aggressive in comfort mode, for example.

Do you have any factual data that support this statement?

It's to my understanding is the software in the "kit" is purely engine based with some updates to the throttle profile.

No change to any "profiles" for adaptive suspension or variable steering.

I would be happy to hear that I'm incorrect and add this to the list of options for my build.

Thanks.

Throttle response in Sport and Comfort is changed. Steering is a tad stiffer as well. Adaptive suspension - its the same to me. Exhaust note is definitely changed.

I am getting the MKKP done to my Sept 12 build M-sport 335i next Monday.

I too am wondering about any possible changes to my DHP with perceived improvement in steering feel or handling? Wishful thinking?

The DME will be changed out on on my build for the newer one which is found on the November 2012 models to present. I am told that there are new mapping codes that affect many parameters-perhaps steering? Does anyone know if the newer DME maps any positive changes to the steering feel on the newer F30s?

People have said it does, but I honesty did not notice a difference in the stearing during the brief time I had the MPPK installed.

When did you order your kit? I have been waiting for a new DME for months now (they determined that the one that came with the kit was bad).

This is just my opinion.

Is it worth it? Yes & No.
If I had to do it over again I would still do it, but for me, the best mod was the JB4 & ER Catless downpipe.

I have the MPPK, MPE, M-Performance Interior Trim, CF Shifter & Handbrake, ER Catless Down Pipe, JB4 Stage 2.

I have a 2011 535 (F10) as well...with a Dr Euro Catless downpipe & JB4 stage 2 and I haven't had any issues. I've even brought it to the dealer for service with the harness installed and no one noticed or said anything.

I ordered the kit from the dealer about a week ago.

What was wrong with the DME that you had?

The car would almost stall when releaeing the clutch and coming to a stop (I have a 6MT) - pre-Nov 2012 build. Dealer was able to reproduce the issue and after 2 weeks of trial/error going back and forth with Germany, they decided it was the new DME and they got the ok to replace it under warranty. I was told a week for the new one, which is coded to the car in Germany. That was in May. I am still waiting. Since that time BMW has stopped offering the mPPK on line for pre-Nov 2012 cars. Last I hear it would be here in July. Mi am it holding my breath and I am not the only one waiting.

I hear good things about the kit but do your research it does not effect the suspension.

It feels like it affects the suspension and steering bc the tighter shifting rebalances the car more optimally than having to break and acccelerate.

Had my M-PPK (and Challenge DP) nearly a week now. Really liking the combo. Car definitely squats in Sport/Sort+ now when you nail the throttle. It'll also break the rears loose in turns much easier - and I'm on 275 Hankook summer rears!
For ex: turning left at a stoplight in M2 and when I'm nearly into my lane; floor it. It'll slide a touch to the right - flash the T/C light - straighten up and rocket forward. fwiw; I know if I had the DSC off that it'd be much more sideways. But it'll def overpower my summer 275's much easier than before.

And there's no downsides I have found. Driveability, etc all top-notch still.

Just curious as why you'd go MPPK + DP rather than JB4 Stage 2 + DP given the JB4 will put out quite a bit more power for substantially cheaper.
