European/German Engineering claims from other car companies

I have seen a bunch of commercials that like to claim that the car was...
Designed
Engineered
Bred
Tested
or whatever in Europe or Germany.

One example is from Kia's "European tuned suspension"
Nothing really against Kia, they are good cars for what it is.

I assume they prob just open a small office in Europe and maybe hire a German Engineer so they can put those claims. Or maybe some European dude just being told to drive the car and tell me how it feels and will pay you $5,000

So what do you guys think about it?

They would tell you the car was made by three-eyed elves if their marker research said that's what you wanted. It used to be Japanese quaility. Today is German engineering, who knows what it will be tomorrow. The only certainty has to do with fools and their money.

I think they bought generic shocks from Sachs or Valeo or whatever. Bogus claim, but, hey, Marketing (altough propping the halo of your competitors seems weird, I guess they don't feel like competing on the same market anyway).
