Bms Powerbox map 3

I've had my Powerbox installed for more than a year now and enjoy the throttle response tremendously over the stock throttle. I've been using Map 2 because it's just right for me. Recently I tries map 3 just for the heck of it and immediately felt the difference in the response.

However something nasty happened several times when I got WOT in map 3. The car goes into limp mode when I go hard on the gas when the engine gets to about 5000-6000 rpm. I get the orange engine light and have to restart the car to make everything go back to normal. It's almost as if map 3 overloads the computer or something. Anyone else experience this kind of behavior with their Powerbox?

No problems here - I set my PB to Map3 from the beginning (2yrs ago) and have never changed, or tried any of the other settings - car has never had a problem...

Not quite sure if I'm having the same issue since I installed my PB at the same time as my Air Intake, so it's a bit hard to isolate what the cause of the error is.

I got the two parts installed one day apart, and the car has run fine for the last 6 weeks or so.

A couple of days ago, I was at WOT (which I don't do often, but I have done a few times since the install) and the Check Engline light came on. I don't have massive power loss, but I do notice that the power band isn't smooth, a bit jerkey. If I'm not at WOT, it's harder to notice the jerkiness.

I'm on PB Map 2, and I'll start investigating my intake first (ensure tight connections, clean MAF, etc.).

Anyone have any other suggestions?

Make sure none of the pins from the PBX to ECU have come loose.

I'll check it out and see. This could be the issue. I DIY'd it myself and I didn't solder the connections as some have done.

Oh, there ya go. That might be it. When I had mine on I wrapped a small amount of painter's tape to keep the pins locked together.

I actually used heat shring tubing on all connections in my install instead of tape - tape will dry up and fall off - especially accelerated when exposed to heat...

Yeah, but I taped them up just so I wouldn't have to go back and be checking all the time.

Did you have the instructions when you installed yours? Cause they clearly state to use tape on all the connections to eliminate the chance that they may come apart.

I just went a step further and used shrink tube which is better than tape

They are clip on connections on mine, pulled them slightly to see if they'd get loose but they don't budge if you don't have the tab pressed in.
