605hp, 9000rpm and 135hp/l!!!!!!!!!

Makes the S65 seem agricultural by comparison (not)

With same specific output, the E60 M5 would have had 675hp... And the S65 would have made 540hp...

You're comparing sedans to a track bred supercar? Interesting choices.

He's providing some "for fun" numbers. It is a what-if type scenario covering the theoretical possibilities that could result if BMW would have taken their naturally aspirated M engines to the levels Ferrari has.

The S65 would have been considered crazy talk, too, back in the days of the F360 or even the early F430 era.

Thanks for posting.

I believe the standard 458 is 570 PS, but 562 hp in the US. Autoblog is a US website, so they probably quote US specs. Also, the standard car revs to 9000 RPM already (I was actually somewhat hoping the Speciale would go even higher ), but that is still just as impressive given that they squeezed out even more power from the engine.

These cars do nothing for me, probably because they are so far out of reach.

Very cool!

The only thing I hate is when any manufacturer lists the weight as "Dry." Like ANYONE can drive the car with NO fluids in it. What's the point?

I hear where your coming from but IMO I still love them. Always gives you something to dream and work toward as you achieve smaller milestones over time. Plus a lot of that technology trickles down to more obtainable cars

E30 325i -> E46 330 ZHP -> E92 M3 -> 997 GT3?? -> F-car???

One of the things I didn't like about the original 458. I know they have a function, but it looks like the 458 has a mustache.

While I like the look of this 458 version, what's the deal with that weird thing sticking up from the center console? Is that the E-brake with a bunch of buttons on it?

No, worse. He mentioned specific output. I thought even Honda guys were over that.

Badass car, though!

No, just buttons for the gearbox and launch control. It has an electronic ebrake
