just a quicky from a newbie..is it pronounced Bimmerpost or Beemerpost....
Always heard BMW owners refer to the vehicles as a "BEEMER" as in What car do you drive..."I drive a Beemer".....LOL

I saw it above, but I guess my whole thing was, I was under the impression while both were spelled differently, they were still pronounced the same.

I have always heard it pronounced Beemer when talking about cars. Actually they are BMWs, any nickname you want to give it is alright (except with the BMW nickname police).

However, if one wants to actually be historically correct (which you obviously don't care about), they SHOULD pronounce them accordingly.

Correct. And it would be perfectly fine if you are speaking German and pronounce it as such. To spell it out as pheonetically as possible in English, it's pronounced POGH-sheh, with a throaty gutteral sound replacing the "r."

But when someone's speaking English, they sound retarded pronouncing Porsche as if they're speaking German, especially when they don't apply the same rule to other makes (not to mention reverting back to the English pronouciation of "Carrera", too). How many people do you encounter who pronounce Mazda as MAT-su-DA while speaking English?

Well I prefer BEEMER....if one of my friends said...what car do you drive and i said a BIMMER...they'd look at me like I was simple or something, but if I said a BEEMER... the reaction would be Oooooooh!....very posh

I say "I drive a BM"...as in Bee-Em. I guess, Americans don't really understand what 'BM' really is. When I tell my friends that, they say "what?". I know 'BM' is understood as BMW in many places outside of the US
