I used to have a Silver Arrowana, and also a reef tank. I'll probably set another system up soon. Hard to decide to go fresh or salt again.

I use to do salt too.

To help with your decision, this is what i think since im an expert at both

stick with fresh water if your not very well off, or don't have a lot of time because you could go cheap, but I always think if you gunna keep salt fish, go the whole shebang.
Also I think salt tanks look better as a whole, so you want a custom tank (prefer wall built in)
Fresh water fish are more interesting to me but the tanks are usually pretty ugly because its mostly bare. and its WAY easier and cheaper to maintain.

dont think i can ever own fish again... too many of them died for me... my friend has a pretty big setup... not sure what it is but he didn't maintain it and there was algae growing all over the place and alot of the fishes ate each other.
