Official Mclaren P1 specs released today

Quote:
McLaren today released the official specification sheet for its much-anticipated P1 hypercar, and the reading is good.

A claimed 0-100 km/h sprint time of 2,8-seconds, 0-200 km/h in 6,8-seconds and 0-300 km/h in 16,5 is nothing short of spectacular. The P1 can cover a standing quarter mile in 9,8-seconds and top speed is electronically limited to 350 km/h.

By comparison Porsche claims the 918 will run 0-100 km/h in 2,8-seconds, 0-200 km/h in 7,9-seconds and 0-300 km/h in 23-seconds.
The official fuel consumption figure for the twin-turbocharged 3,8-litre V8 engine is 6,9 L/100 km, while the the car can also run solely in electric mode for up to 11 kilometers.

No word on a Nurburgring Nordschleife lap time for the P1 yet but based on these figures the expectation will be that it will better P
McLaren has also confirmed that its first UK-based customer collected his P1 in September.

Geez you aren't kidding. This is by far my favorite hyper car at the moment, even if I wasn't sold on it when it was released.

^ Of course.

A handful, like myself, would chug a cup of black coffee and then tremble trying to get our best radar detector stuck somewhere.

The rest would tremble while trying to send out messages on their smart phone as to where in the mall parking lot they would be.

LOL! But a half hour with this car is best spent on a track. No radar needed

Ring time of 6:47! It beat the stupid Porsche 918 by a whopping 10 seconds (6:57) and is now the Ring leader. Damn straight McLaren.

What's so "stupid" about the 918. Are you 12?

Just trying to rile up a well-known Porsche fanboy on here who said the McLaren would never get close to the 918 time.

I just went thread hunting and had to bump it. I take back my original post. Got a laugh out of it.

Arguing about ring times of cars we will never buy on a race track the car will never see. How much more relevant can you get?

I think the numbers positively represent the expectations we had based on specs we got: the 918 is the heaviest and the least powerful, but has most torque and AWD with amazing electronic assistance. The P1 has turbo and a huge focus on aerodynamics. The Ferrari is the lightest (according to claim) and the most powerful. So according to numbers, the LaFerrari should be even faster than the P1. Looking forward to the result. But if it happens it is not the fastest, I doubt we'll get a laptime. Too bad, we also have to take into consideration Ferrari does not develop their cars on the N-Ring like Porsche, so their is no shame in being slower. What if the 918 Spyder ran a lap at Fiorano?

It will surely be interesting between the Ferrari and Mac. Looking at their siblings, the 458 and MP4, the MP4 has had the upper edge on all quantitative measures. The Italia has been known for it's superb dynamics, feel, and sound, but the MP4 was the engineering masterpiece. The difference this time is that both the P1 and LF seem to be technological marvels. Let's see how the journalists judge this flagship battle.
