Weight of manual transmission?
Anyone have an idea how much a manual transmission on a 2006 325i weighs? Saw an e90 video of it being lifted out by two guys and it didn't look that heavy and those guys weren't really that big. And I think that was a 335i, so probably a heavier transmission.
Going to be changing out my flywheel/clutch and wondering if maybe I can just gorilla the transmission out. Have access to a lift and can get the car high enough to make me lifting the transmission easier. If it weighs 150lbs, should be no problem. If it weighs 200lbs, maybe a problem. If it weighs more than 200lbs, I won't consider trying. Last edited by Casca; 11-04-2013 at 09:21 PM.. |

heh, the 335i and 325i have the nearly the same ZF transmission - aside from the torque converter. weights are similar.
typically, two people can lift a RWD transmission pretty easily. A spec sheet I found on the ZF 6HP transmission says they weigh about 165 lbs with fluids. http://www.zf.com/media/media/docume...21_Catalog.pdf |
