Shipping damage???

/rant on
Ok my car has been at VPC for the last week now. Ship landed on 10/14 and there was some damage to the bumper. Now it is getting to the point where it's getting more and more frustrating as each passing day as why it is still at VPC for this long for just a replacement bumper I am to the point where I want to reorder a new one since it is not in mint condition. I know I know they will fix it to near mint condition but just the idea of having it being fixed in the first place will just haunt the future of the well being of the vehicle. I am superstious and believe in fate and is this a sign of me not to have this particular vehicle. The last 3 digits of the VIN end in 666 also. It's already a bad omen. hehe I'm just here at work and i really need to vent this off. Its been a long week and seeing everyone get their car delivered already from the same ship already really frustrates me. I'm happy for the guys that got theirs but ticked off for not having mines yet and doesn't look like I'm gonna get it for soon either.

lol gawd damn you still didnt get yours yet? we were on the same boat too. i bet they're just doing donuts with yours at the vpc. j/k. Mine had 5 miles on the odometer so check yours when you eventually get yours. The wait must be tough. I've had mine a week and it still puts a grin on my face when i walk into it. oh by the way this morning a new g37 cut my ass off on 680. Oh how i wanted to gun it... but why risk it. He's just bitter he couldnt buy the bimmer. muhahahah.

My CA told me about it. I should've taken delivery at the same time as joonsup. He told me the bumper didn't align perfectly. That can mean a lot of things and I don't want to draw to any conclusions.

Ya tell me about it. I should be on your level right now hehe but i'm at the other end of the sprectrum =T. I'm really debating if I would take delivery of this damaged car now. I know they are gonna fix it to where it's almost perfect but still. I'm in no hurry to get it but i would like to have it already.

Nice CA. At least they told you. I have 3 weeks to wait since 10/15, and I can only speculate that its not just "customs time", but some serious damage. My CA will not say anything except "we are following the delivery process".

I feel you when there is damage. I did Euro Delivery and I think that is as prestine as you will ever get to "factory freshness".
But getting it back home is a whole different story. The VPCs exist for this reason: shipping companies don't care--damage happens and apparently its accepted. You could order another car, but it has the same chances again of damage.
At least your car had cosmoline paint protection and wheel spacers during shipment. Since mine was ED, they don't put those "shipping protections" on. And I've heard of some nasty issues without those spacers causing damage as the cars are too low and scrape on/off the shipping ramps.
So you can guess how the ED delivery cars fare.

i'll be prayin for both of you guys. haha. you guys are missing out! but you know what, it'll make it that much sweeter once you do get your cars and while mine has a good amount of miles on it, your guys' will be fresh. If it's just a bumper problem, and if you're leasing, I wouldnt worry. But if you are purchasing, and you're the type that wants everything perfect, i'd say re order if you are allowed to since you'll have your ride for over 5 years

The only thing keeping me sane is that even though I purchased straight out, I have a 100k warranty I will abuse!
Agreed, if you leased, no worries.

Thanks guys. It is rough waiting so long and it gets even harder near the end as you all know. At first, I am purchasing it, but I am having thoughts to lease it now. I'm just not sure yet. And ya he said it was just the bumper, but he said it didn't align right or something like that. I'm totally not sure what's going on right now, but I do know it's some bumper work.

Does it normally take this long to replace a bumper?

I've read reports that the VPC has been backed up with work.
I think you are good. Its good the VPC is double-checking everything, and if they notice the gaps slightly off, its nice to know they will make sure its perfect before you see it.

you would be surprised how many cars are damaged at the port. The VPC fixes them, and you would never even know it was damaged.

Damaged cars due to shipping are disclosed to the dealership but not to the customer.

Frankly, their work is so good, you would never even tell.

They even make their paint depth the same as the factory so a paint meter wouldn't be able to tell it was repainted =)
