i dont know about wet, since you shouldnt just leave your car wet in the first place. And if your car is dirty then your going to get the inside of your cover dirty as well.........basically, no, i wouldnt promote using a car cover with a wet car at all, makes no sense. As far as a hot car, it depends on what type of cover. If the cover is breathable and will allow some heat to escape, then it should be fine. If the cover is not breathable then you might want to wait a bit before you cover it up, although i dont really think your car is going to GIVE OFF more heat then it woul SOAK UP on a hot day. So id cover it up if its hot, to prevent it from getting even hotter from the suns heat. And if its night time and the car is hot, well it doesnt really matter since the cold of the night will cool everything off quickly anyway.

You mean the car was just in the rain and you want to put cover on it while wet? I only know it is bad if you're going to leave it for a long time. I once washed a car and covered it, and left it for a few months when I was out of town, and ended up with rust problems in the mechanical parts.

wet usually implies dirty car, from all the crap on the road. putting a car cover on will make that grit rub against the finish.

basically, before you put a cover on, make sure the car is CLEAN. or else its like covering the car in fine grit sand paper. wind will make the cover move against the paint

Some reason as why you won't put a hat on when your hair is wet.

Car covers are only for clean, dry cars imo.

I have a flannel car cover for my old Corvette. I take the cover off, drive the car and then park it in the garage. It doesn't get covered again until it is clean. Same thing with your BMW. You are trapping moisture and dirt under the cover which is not conducivice to long paint life. In addition, once you take that car cover off, it is now "contaminated" with dirt and who knows what. So the next time you put your cover on your car, even if the car is clean, you are re-introducing that same dirt to your car.

Imo, wax your car frequently and only use the car cover when it is clean and will be parked for extended periods of time.

I bought one of the Noah covers and even through hard rain, the car comes out nice and clean. Those covers breathe very well and can be thrown in a commercial washer on gentle. I wouldn't run out while it's raining and throw it on, you'll just cause a bunch on condensation under the cover and that isn't a good idea.
